Description of 1990 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1

Chevrolet Caprice . Condition is Used. This is a 1990 Caprice, 9C1 police package Caprice. It is a former Bay Area CA, black and white marked patrol vehicle turned Yellow Cab. Yes, the miles are high, but these vehicles routinely go well beyond that without issue and still run fantastic (and many of mine personally have). If you know, and/or have driven a 9C1, then you realize that these are not the 'mom and pop' civilian counterpart. The 9C1 is build differently from the ground up from suspension, to engine, transmission, cooling, electrical, rear end, etc..This one even still has all of it's original factory silicone green hoses on it still (I have some from the 1980's that still do as well). 1990 was the last year of the box style Caprice and had a fuel injected motor for the 350 cid option that started in 1989. The difference between a 1989 and a 1990 model, aside from the dubious door mounted seat belts, is that 1990 got a bit of a boost in torque. This particular vehicle runs very smoot, has great power and acceleration still, and shifts flawlessly. The only notable problem is that it does smoke some, particular upon start up, almost just like a cold carburetor (even though it is clearly TBI). The AC does not work, but the heat and defroster do. It has just had a new paint job over much of it a few months ago, as I was restoring it to a Yellow Cab. Some of the equipment is still in the vehicle, including radio brackets. Has some body dents, particularly on the hood, but the body is remarkably straight and virtually rust free. It has a new battery and metal air cleaner housing; I have changed all fluids (coolant, brake, etc and oil several times over the course of a short time with limited mileage driving due to the vehicle sitting before I obtained it). I have different sets of OEM hubcaps for it, but I painted the wheels and actually thought it looked more like cab without them still.
CA car, always been in CA. I have MN Collector life-time registration plates for i, as I also live in MN, but most of my 9C1 collection is in CA still. I just have collected too many and must sell some as I am spending more and more time in MN without the ability to keep running the CA fleet. I actually really have too many vehicles and must sell some due to new life circumstances (I also have the very last 9C1 box Caprice in service in all of LA: a LASO unmarked '90 Caprice, somehow released with full cage and radio system, that I may sell as if genuinely interested).
