Description of 1984 Chevrolet Corvette Targa Coupe |
There is a lot of information below because I am trying to describe the car as accurately and as honestly as possible. I welcome your questions and requests for additional pics. I am the third owner, purchased inNovember 2000and have driven the car13,000 miles inthat time.Garage kept during my ownership, except for a brief period while engine was being rebuilt. First owner special ordered the carwith these options: manual transmission, heavy duty cooling, Z51 performance package, leather seats, Bose audio. The second owner purchased the car in 1986, moved to California, and kept until 2000. I purchased and had it shipped to PA.Currently registered in PA as an antique (cheap insurance, no annual registration) with clean and clear titlein my name.Corvette has never seen road salt in PA. I drove the car less than 1,000 miles per year during my ownership. I am located approximately 1 hour west of Philadelphia, PA. In 2017 I began overhauling this car, spending $14,000 (receipts available) and using only the best parts available. Selling because my dad passed away and I inherited his car. I spend most of my time driving his car and never really get to drive this Vette anymore, and I don’t have the garage space for everything. This Corvette comes with: · 2 sets of keys · Owner’s manual · Window sticker from NCM · Copy of factory service manual and factory service parts identification manual · Original targa top tool · Indoor / outdoor waterproof car cover · Bottle of touch up paint · 2 AC Delco oil filters · Original PROM (Hypertech is currently installed) Engine · SBC 350 Cross Fire Injection(RPO L83)rebuilt in 2017. · Bored 0.030†over and assembled using USA made components. Melling HV oil pump. · Components include Comp Cams hardened pushrods, roller rocker arms, Melling MTC-1 performance camshaft, ARP fasteners & Sealed power hypereutectic pistons and rings, Edelbrock heads. Factory rods and crank. Melling MTC-1 performance camshaft. · No fluid leaks. Always run on Mobil 1 and oil changed every 6 months regardless of mileage. I only use premium fuel. Ignition · Accel 8.8 MM spark plug wires, rebuilt distributor, new Flamethrower cap, new Flamethrower rotor, new Flamethrower ignition coil, new Flamethrower ignition module, Hypertech PROM. New O2, MAP, TPS, and coolant temp sensor. Engine wear components · Rebuilt alternator, rebuilt starter with heat shield, new harmonic balancer, new drive belt. Fuel & Intake · New injectors, rebuilt throttle bodies, new ’85 higher pressure fuel pump, new Renegade performance intake manifold. Cooling system · New water pump, new 160 degree thermostat, new DeWitt’s radiator, new upper and lower radiator hoses, new radiator cap. Exhaust · Custom headers and true dual exhaust with crossover; Borla mufflers Brakes · New brake master cylinder, new front and rear carbon metallic brake pads with less than 5k miles, braided stainless brake hoses Steering / Suspension · Rebuilt factory Z51 quick ratio steering rack and pinion, rebuilt power steering pump, new Moog outer tie rod ends. · All 4 shocks have been replaced with factory Bilstein. Recent alignment.Very tight and grips the road like you are on rails. Transmission · Full rebuild of direct drive T10 and overdrive unit by SK Speed in Long Island, NY in 2017. They are the best in the business. New performance clutch disc, pressure plate, bearing, fork, resurfaced flywheel, new clutch master, new clutch slave, new clutch hose in 2019. Rear End · All new u joints. Fluid changed 2017. Exterior · Black paint has a deep shine. Repaint (in factory black) prior to 2000 when I purchased the car and paint is holding up well. Always garaged during my ownership and always detailed. No peeling of the paint or clearcoat; what you see in the pictures are reflections in the paint. Paint is very nice but not perfect. There is one paint imperfection behind the driver’s door, but it’s been that way since I bought it in 2000. Couple small dings, but much better paint than i have seen on other 36 year old cars. · No modifications like spoilers or ground effects. · New emblems, new 3 piece front bumper underside moldings. The front bumper has no rock chips. I had the front bumper cover resprayed in 2004. Interior · Graphite leather seats. I had the driver seat redone in 2001 so the bolster and seat have very little wear. · Carpet is original. I do have aftermarket floormats with embroidered C4 logo, and cargo mat. No rips or odors in carpet. No smoking, no pets. There is some fading, as the carpet is 36 years old. There is one oil stain in the back cargo area, which is covered by the cargo mat. It has been there since the prior owner. · Driver door panel has been replaced with one from Corvette America because old one had cracks. This is common on C4’s. · Interior is stock. Manual seats, rebuilt dash cluster, rebuilt Bose head unit, power windows. No cracks in dashboard. Wheels/Tires · Wheels are stock Z51 performance package wheels. Tires are Kumho factory size 255/50 16's. All tires have good tread left, and no crackingbut I would consider replacing due to age. Weatherstripping · The weatherstripping is original to the car. If you pressure was the car, and point the nozzle at the weatherstripping, water will get in, just like any other car. I never left it out in the rain (except during engine rebuild), and it was covered, and water did not get it. If you are careful washing it and don't point the hose right at the weatherstripping, you should be fine. Other work completed: · Replaced rear window hatch struts · All fluids flushed (coolant, brake, clutch, power steering, rear diff) in 2017. Recent Mobil 1 oil change · Sylvania Silverstar Headlights · Rebuilt headlight motors · New magnesium valve covers · Title · Clean PA title in my name. This car is titled as an antique car in PA. So that designation will transfer to the next owner, if you live in PA, and if you choose to keep it as antique. I am keeping the license plate. · When you purchase the car, please bring cash. I will take a certified bank check if drawn on a local (to me) bank. Please check with me. We will transfer the title into your name only when I receive full payment. I will not lie on purchase price at DMV when changing title over. What does not work: · Power radio antenna does not go up. You can still receive strong stations, and the tape deck works. I believe the problem is the antenna itself.I have a used spare which will go with the car. · Wipers. The motor is new. I have another wiper switch which will go with the car. · The left turn signal. Turn signal switch does not go "left". The switch itself is bad, meaning that you cannot physically push it down to go left. It feels like something is blocking it. · The hood release cable might need adjustment. Hood opens fine, cable is fine and works, but where the handle meets the cable, it needs more tension. · AC - all components are there and should just require a charge. Having driven the car less than 1,000 miles per year, I never needed it or used it. AC was never a priority for me, as I always drove with roof off, windows down. The AC system had to be evacuated when the engine rebuild was done. Reman compressor, new o rings, new lines. · Check Engine Light- It comes on when car reaches operating temperature. The idle changes when the light comes on. I have not driven the car much since the rebuild, and not since the engine light came on. I have not done any troubleshooting other than pulling the code 44 (System too Lean). The fuel pump, strainer, filter, injectors, O2 sensor are all new. I would recommend trailering it home. It will run and drive; I just wouldn't recommend driving long distances with check engine light on. I'm overly cautions that way and would rather be safe than sorry considering all of the work that has already been done to this car. Corvette is very nice for a 1984 but not perfect. Please remember it's a 36 year old car with 101,000 miles. It’s a great car that just needs a little more work. The major items, and common C4 issues, have already been addressed. I’ve done my best to honesty and accurately describe it. I just don’t have the time, garage space, or interest anymore to keep it.
