Description of 1968 Chevrolet Corvette |
Up for auction is a very nice example of an original 1968 Corvette convertible in eye grabbing Safari Yellow paint over black interior. Equipped with its original 427/390hp engine & 4 speed Muncie. Well preserved & numbers matching make this a very desirable collectable. It received the prestigious NCRS "Top Flight" award with a score of 95.3 out of 100. Paint is glossy & above average condition with no checking. Chrome is straight and clean. Comes with both tops in black.Frame is rust free. Seats, door panels & dash are excellent. All glass and lighting including T3 headlights are original & nice condition. The car presents itself exactly the way it was delivered from the factory in 1968. Bias ply Firestone redlines wrapped around Corvette rally wheels keep it grounded and looking good. Dual chrome exhaust tips give it the unique look & pavement pounding sound only a big block Corvette can create. Original ride height has also been preserved for the most critical Corvette purists. Pros:-All original car.-No aftermarket parts.-Vacuum headlights, AM/FM radio, fiber optics, heater & e-brake work good. Cons: -Windshield wipers occasionally don't work. Switch needs replacing.-Paint has been blended around the front fender grills. It's not extremely noticable in daylight but the color is slightly different (see pics). There's also a 6x6 inch area in front of the driver door handle where the paint has been "impressioned" by a blue microfiber towel. Also not real noticeable in daylight but I want to be upfront about it.-Engine starts fine and idles good with no smoke but the original Rochester carb & choke coil could use tuning. I placed a very modest "Reserve" price compared to similar listings on Ebay with fixed "Buy it now" prices. I also have walk around videos available.
