Description of 1979 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 3500 Scottsdale |
1979 Chevrolet C30 Scottsdale dually pickup truck. Pro's: Clean 2WD truck with clean title, 55,000 miles, strong 454ci big block gasoline engine, edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor, edelbrock performer intake, headers, turbo 400 automatic transmission, dual exhaust, dual fuel tanks, factory air conditioning, cruise control, power steering, power brakes, and an aftermarket trailer brake controller. Every light on the truck works, though the previous owner wired the cargo lamp light to always be 'on' while the truck is running, so the bulb has been removed. Every serviceable component of the front suspension, shocks, struts, front tires, and a general tune up has been replaced/completed within the last 500 miles. Has a new battery, current VA state inspection, all gauges in the dash work (except the clock), and it drives reliably. Con's: The A/C has one broken line making the system currently inoperable, but it worked great prior to line failure. The wiper fluid pump is also present, but not working. The cruise control unit is present, but not hooked up. Radio/sound system is not present. The windshield has a crack near the rearview mirror which may spread over time, but is not currently an issue or even very noticeable. The transmission may need a new dipstick (current one is too short). Also, there are two spots on the truck showing rust (see pictures). It does have the typical slow leaks (engine, transmission, and tires) of any older Chevrolet or classic vehicle. Vehicle was repainted about 10 years ago by previous owner, so some of the clear coat on the roof/hood is starting to fade and flake. Rear tires are showing signs of dry rot. Overall it is a very solid and enjoyable old truck to drive. It will take only a few minor repairs/upgrades to get all of the present, but disabled items/features of this truck working which will make it even more enjoyable to use.
