Description of 1969 Chevrolet El Camino SS396

This is a true, documented El Camino “SS396”, engine numbers on the block match the VIN, also verified on the original “build sheet”. Car’s original color was “Monaco Orange”, an “SS” only color in 1969. It had a white stripe on the side. This is my daily driving car, swap meet car and parts runner. Runs and drives very nice, the turbo 400 shifts crisp, with no lag. Ready for restoration or drive as is. The engine and transmission have been rebuilt, car is very original, still retains the 325hp air breather that is usually swapped out for an open element style. At the moment the window trim is off the car, I do have it and it is included in the sale. The rear window is cracked, I do have a replacement that goes with the sale too.Originally equipped with A/C, P/S, PDB, turbo 400 transmission and 12 bolt differential. It does have some new parts to make it roadworthy and reliable, fresh fluids, new belts, new fan clutch and radiator shroud, new fuel pump, new fuel tank, new mirrors and a new battery. I just re-sealed the power steering pump. Car has 15” rally wheels, 7” in front, and 8” in the rear. Tires have lots of tread however they are old, I mostly just drive local, so I would recommend new tires for a long trip. The horns, blinkers, stop lights, running lights, head lights, dash lights, dome light, wipers, heater and speedometer all function as equipped. And, I almost don’t want to put it in the ad for fear of being “jinxed”, no fluid leaks! A/C will get cold if I run power directly to the pump, valve on hi side will get “frosty”, and blow cool through the defrost vents however a/c will need a professional to look at it.As you can see in the pics it has had a couple cheap paint jobs over the years, and needs body and paint work. There are a couple rust spots, nothing major, floors are all in rust free condition. The interior is in fair condition. Clear California title in my name. This is a great opportunity to own a real, matching numbers big block El Camino in a very desirable color.Call anytime if you would like to stop by to inspect and drive the car, or if you would like me to send additional pictures. (I could only upload 12) Car is in Southern California. 661-400-1212
