INTRODUCTION: By 1939, the Art Deco movement was well entrenched in automotive design. Aerodynamic considerations were becoming important, and a streamlined look had evolved. The 1939 Chevrolet was a beautiful starting point for this serious frame-off restoration. RESTORATION OBJECTIVES: The owner/restorer is well-known in Atlanta club circles as being very meticulous. His objective was to celebrate the beauty of this 1939 Chevy pickup by leaving the “look†very close to original stock form, but at the same time, he held back on “creature comforts†(e.g. manual steering and NO heater or A/C) to focus on blistering straight-line acceleration and passing power – well provided by an estimated 470 HP coming from the Chevy 383 CID “Stroker†V8 mated to a rugged 700R Overdrive Automatic. As a small concession to modernity, a straightforward AM/FM Stereo system with iPhone, iPad, and MP3 Player capabilities was installed with under-dash speakers. We also give a very detailed description of the truck...not just a couple sentences like many listings. QUESTIONS?...after reviewing ALL the images and reading the entire description, please call Jim Murphy if you have any questions: 706-429-7924 OPERATIONAL REPORT:This 1939 Chevy pickup moves like nothing made in 1939! It is extremely quick and elicits “thumbs up†and big smiles everywhere it goes. It is a people magnet at any show. As everyone knows, this is a “truck loving†country, and the charisma of this Art Deco creation seems to draw everyone in for a closer look. And the closer you look, the more impressed you will be, because excellence in workmanship is evident everywhere…including the undercarriage. It is an absolute blast to drive. The only operational issue that we noted was that the gasoline gauge has stopped working (could need a new fuel-level sending unit). The turn-signals are activated by a toggle-switch located under the instrument panel to the left of the steering column (shown at right). Front turn indicators are located within the Halogen Headlamp shells. Rear directionals are cleverly located at the back of the bed rand-rails…also shown at right. There is NO heater or A/C, but holes in the dash for the original heater controls remain intact in case the new owner wants to install a heater and/or Air Conditioner. ABOUT ME:I am an avid Classic Car enthusiast. After retiring from 30 years of Sales & Marketing in a Global 100 company, I began buying and selling Classic Cars and Collectibles as a collector and for friends and clients. This classic belongs to a friend and fellow member of the North Georgia Thunderbirds chapter of VTCI. Please Note:as of this date, we have had over 3,000 eBay transactions with 100% Positive Feedback...this includes the sale of many Classic Cars to Buyers all over the world, including Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Australia, Russia, Canada, Japan and throughout the United States. IMPORTANT DOCUMENT & CONDITION OF SALE REMARKS:Bill of Sale and (clear) Georgia Owner Registration will be provided to the Buyer. NOTE: The state of Georgia does not require titles for vehicles built before 1986. Therefore, this 1939 Chevy pickup was not issued a title. The Registration document is the legal document of ownership. Every state observes the DMV rules of all other states, therefore this vehicle may be insured, licensed, registered and driven in any state. Whether it is titled depends upon the DMV title rules of your state. This Vehicle is sold strictly as-shown and on a final as-is basis without any warranties expressed or implied due to age. Even the very best restored classics will require additional maintenance and service - often without warning. Therefore, please expect to continue - as the new owner and caretaker of this classic - to perform additional maintenance and repairs. We hope that you are able to enjoy the truck without the need for an immediate repair - but understand that this indeed could be found necessary. As seasoned collectors know, every time you start (or attempt to start) a classic vehicle is a new experience...it could be a wonderful ride, or a new repair to undertake. That is the nature of the hobby, and this classic should not be purchased if you are not prepared for this reality. We have presented the truck accurately to the best of our ability, but oversights are possible. Therefore -beforethe auction's end – high bidders who have met the reserve (if any) are welcome to examine the vehicle in person. All sales are final. Because this truck is of show-quality and only lightly driven locally (i.e. untested for long trips) we recommend that it be transported to its new locale. We remind you to be sure to review ALL the images and ALL the captions for this classic - on the right -because in addition to this description, they too relate important information!
