Description of 1961 Chevrolet Corvette |
1961 Corvette 4 owner never an auction or dealer car, original miles This is a high end driver and is original miles (88000, just under) . This is not a NCRS car at this time. This is a car that all the owners loved and passed down and drove it. We win or come in 2nd at every corvette show we go to . Last year we came in second with 23 cars in the c-1 category. According the C1 registry breakdown this is a rare car as only 3 others were built with these options and color. I am not into the NCRS thing so don't bother me with this or that. If you are interested in the car Please contact me to discuss and set up a time to see it. (317-656-1231) It is listed in the C1 registry and I have the NCRS deliver sheet and a copy from them of the build sheet. I have other original items and many pics. ASK! First of all this is a 4 owner car, It has never been sold by a dealer or been to an auction, it has only been transferred by private indivuals that knew each other.
The first owner bought it in North Carolina and had it, 13 years and just drove it and did maintenance . The second Owner was a senior fraud investigator for the state of N.C. And he owned it for another 16yrs, under his owner ship it was in the Myrtle Beach Corvette Club and was an NCRS judged car. He was also a lifer in the Marine Crops. He was thinking of selling it and came to a convention in Indiana and mention it to a friend of his who was a senior Fraud investigator for Indiana and Jerry bought it. Under Jerry’s ownership the Power-glide trans mission busted out the side and he decided to replace it with a 350 turbo. Jerry also had it repainted (due to fading) the original color by a local chevy dealer in Peru Indiana. He had it 13 yrs. I met Fred thru our local shows and he developed cancer and knew i wanted the car. I bought the car and have had it approx 7 years. I have put new brakes, tires, tuned it up, fuel pump, starter all NOS or what is purported NOS I dont have the original powerglide but i do have the adapter plate, speedo, driveshaft ect.... I also have the original radio in a box stored. This is numbers matching 1961 Corvette Roadster 283 cid 230 hp with Powerglide and the optional heater, radio and hardtop ( I believe hardtop has original paint and looks good). The "10270" in the VIN is also part of the engine block number. The F1017Dg is the Oct,17, 1960 build date DG designates the 230hp 4 barrel, power-glide. The casting number on the block is 375619 with a casting date J140 The C1 registry verified thru NCRS shipping report production date was the week of Oct, 14, 1960 and believe the motor is original to the car. The car sits on new wide white wall radial coker tires The car is Honduras Maroon with high lite coves delete and black interior, the soft top is White and the optionalhardtop is(original paint?) Honduras with a white headliner. The paint is in great shape. The hubcaps are 61 or 62 (depending on who u talk to). All the chrome is in good condition with slight pitting on front bumpers (rear bumpers are recrhomed and shines beautifully. The car is garage kept and under a car cover with a trickle charger on battery (both included). All the gauges are original, work and illuminate, including the cigarette lighter, and courtesy dash light. The high beam indicator light works and the emergency brake warning light flashes after the bulb warms up. The drivers doormirror has small mirror attached . Thetail light lenscovers and front running light lens covers. The car has the correct hardware GM used for installing the sun visors. The heater has a new blower and works great. The spare tire board and bolt look original and the board has GM jack instructions. I believe the jack and jack handle are original GM 1961 Corvette. The engine purrs like a kitten when standing beside the engine compartment but walk to the rear and the factory road pipes give the car a sound sweeter than any Harley. The car is very quiet to drive and you do not hear the exhaust. The only things not correct in the engine compartment is the Interstate Battery where an AC/Delco Battery with yellow caps for adding water to the cells was original, and I have a spin on oil filter instead of the canister. Other than the batter, the intake, carb and transmission I have gone to great links to keep this car 100% as GM delivered it. Again it is not an NCRS car. The car is not a trailer-queen and if it went anywhere on a weekend it was driven, it is just way too much fun to not enjoy. When driven, the car sits tight on the roadwith absolutely no vibration or pulling, pretty amazing for 1961 technology. Everything done to this car has made it run better, Over all this is a high end driver it has one small “nick†top of drivers headlight and some touch up on the rocker of the drivers door due to foot hitting it getting in and out.( see pics), the transmission leaks a little when it sits thru the winter. I don't need help selling or anyone telling me what’s right or wrong with the car... move on... i don't do scams or lowball offers either, ill keep it and be buried with it....lol C1 Registry availbile. 317-656-1231 Bud |
