Description of 1955 Chevrolet Other Pickups All Steel, A/C |
Isn’t this a great looking old truck? This highly modified, all steel 1955 Chevrolet pickup (first series) is the product of a frame-off restoration with less than 1,500 miles since completion. It combines design elements from both the early and late Advance Design platform. It also incorporates modern updates to the brakes, steering, and suspension. Combine that with features like a gorgeous custom interior, mean sounding small block Chevy, and air conditioning and you’ve really got something special. As mentioned, this truck is all steel; fenders, running boards, etc. The high quality silver paint is a great color for this design, and it has been debadged as well for a very clean look. Titled as a 1955, this restomod combines the best features from throughout the Advance Design years (1947-1955). It has later elements like the single piece curved windshield, but has the more attractive earlier grille rather than the “bull nose†that showed up in 1954. The doors are early style without vent windows, but with the later style pushbutton door handles. The box is also an earlier style with angled bed rails, but with the more attractive round taillights from later years along with custom tailgate latches. The fuel tank has been relocated from the cab to below the beautiful 8-board oak bed. And you can’t miss the 17†chrome wheels with BF Goodrich tires (215 front, 235 rear). The drivetrain uses a modern 350ci small block Chevy (3970010 casting). This is a pump gas motor that sounds amazing! Features include aluminum cylinder heads, a polished aluminum intake, electronic ignition, and 4-barrel carb with electric choke. There are ceramic coated headers feeding the dual exhaust, while cooling uses an aluminum radiator and electric fan. The transmission is a TH350 automatic and the rear end is a 10-bolt with 3.08 gears for good highway performance. There are numerous other mechanical upgrades. The front suspension has been converted to a Mustang 2 style setup with tubular control arms. The old steering box has been replaced with a power rack and pinion setup. Brakes use 11†discs in front with a dual reservoir master cylinder. It all makes for a much nicer driving experience from this 65-year-old truck. The gorgeous custom red interior really accents the exterior. The bench seat, door panels, and headliner are all professionally finished. So is the red dashboard with its two black gauge clusters and chrome bezels. Note how the cowl vent mechanism is also done in red. This truck also has a chrome tilt steering column, power windows, and electric windshield wipers. The Vintage Air a/c system has controls in the glove box and vents hidden in the dashboard. It all makes for a very clean appearance. The classic truck market continues to be immensely popular, and this one really stands out. It is a fantastic package that would take 2-3 times this price to duplicate. Along with the obvious good looks, it also has a ride you wouldn’t expect from a 1955 pickup. Not to mention the conveniences and upgrades that make it more user friendly. This one is as enjoyable on the road as it is in your driveway. |
