Description of 1978 Chevrolet Corvette |
Chevrolet Corvette Offered for sale is a 1978 25th anniversary model with a four speed transmission and L82 engine that has been modified and the emissions equipment removed. Hagerty’s vintage valuation is $18,300 with amounts added for the four speed, power windows, air conditioning, and aluminum wheels. This car has a good condition, #3, rating as follows from Hagerty. “These vehicles could possess some, but not all of the issues of a #4 vehicle, but they will be balanced by other factors such as a fresh paint job or a new, correct interior where applicable. #3 vehicles drive and run well, but might have some incorrect parts. These vehicles are not used for daily transportation but are ready for a long tour without excuses, and the casual passerby will not find any visual flaws. "Good" is the one word description of a #3 vehicle.†I purchased the car in June of 2010 and am the 3rd owner. The previous owner had it for 20 some years who was a car dealer in the suburbs of Chicago. The mileage on the car registered 29,362 when I bought it. It now has 33,723 miles on it. Mechanically the car is very good. The cranking compression on all cylinders averages 170 with the low of 160, and the high of 180. No accidents, and the paint and finish are above average. The grey paint on the lower part of car has been repainted. Virtually no scratches on the overall exterior paint. This car responds very well and runs straight down the road. It is a fun car to drive. It has a very good pull on acceleration and sounds great. The air conditioning does not work. It wasn’t important to me to get it fixed which is reflected in the price. This is the background of what I have done to the car over the last nine years: New tires New radiator New brake calipers New radio antenna New seat and foam to match the original design and color New alternator New starter New headers New straight through exhaust pipes New mufflers New battery New fuel pump Engine work: New aluminum heads - 190cc runner 64cc New push rods New aluminum valve covers New aluminum roller rockers 1.6 ratio New single plane manifold New distributor New plug wires New plugs Reworked Rochester carburetor with increased secondary jets New rear seal I’m selling this car because I have two corvettes. I’m going to sell this one even though I have a real attachment to it. The original heads, rocker arms, push rods, intake manifold, and valve covers are available. |
