Offered briefly from 1949 through 1952, Chevrolets Fleetline DeLuxe sedans delivered traditional Chevrolet assembly quality, reliability, and economy with sleek and futuristic fastback body styling. Featuring impeccable proportions and arguably one of the finest designs ever to come from Harley Earls legendary GM Styling studios, these handsome Chevrolets received the ultimate compliment when Britains renowned H.J. Mulliner coachworks released the uncannily similar Bentley R-Type Continental in 1952. Offered in both 2- and 4-door sedan body styles from 1949 through 1951 and only as a 2-door for 1952, these beautifully styled Chevrolets featured the GM divisions top available trim level to match their forward-looking presence. While Chevrolets smart fastbacks sold briskly when new, few quality examples of the 37,164 produced for 52 remain today. Fewer still are as tastefully customized as the captivating vehicle offered here, which was recently acquired from a private collection. Sold new in Washington, Pennsylvania, it was restored and customized during the late 1980s. As offered, this authentic Old School 1950s style Chevy is highly attractive in its demanding Black paint finish over Gray upholstery, upgraded with choice custom tweaks including Frenched head- and tail lights, bright wire wheels with tri-bar hub spinners, wide whitewall tires, and custom accent graphics. Underhood, this custom Fleetline remains true to its roots with Chevrolets renowned Stovebolt 6-cylinder engine enhanced by a host of period speed goodies including an Offenhauser cylinder head, intake manifold and finned rocker cover, twin carburetors, and dual exhaust, with a 3-speed manual transmission sending power to the road. Added air conditioning provides all-weather comfort and the trunk houses a full-size spare wheel/tire and roadside jack. Just 33,798 original miles have been traveled.
