Description of 1955 Chevrolet Apache 3100 Pickup

1955 Chevrolet Apache 3100 Pickup

The Chevrolet Task Force was Chevrolet's successor to the Advance Design series. The Task Force Series ran from late 1955 (second series) through 1959. At GMC dealers, it was called the Blue Chip Series. Designed by Ned Jordan, Chevrolet's Task Force pickups blurred the line between passenger cars and trucks. They were more comfortable and roomier than previous Chevy trucks, and they offered stylish features like a wraparound windshield, hooded headlights, and an egg-crate grille.

For consignment, a nicely buttoned up 3100 Apache Pickup from Chevrolet and right out of 1955. A few changes in the powertrain, some convenience options added to the interior, and a mere 5K miles since the build. Appearing from side view a bit back heavy, there are large and in charge tires and wheels there as well as a big fat contrasting gray trim spear painted onto the body on said bed sides. A customized truck, with beautiful paint and the ability to rip it up a bit and haul some stuff or just some ass!

Exterior
Laser straight steel panels are all around and gaps are drum tight for that steel. All slabs are bathed in seafoam green that is definitely the deep part of the ocean and shines like the fish that swim in it. Hooded headlights flank either side of the now battleship gray painted grille and bumper below. All trimmings of chrome have long since been removed. A bulbous hood sans badges or ornamentation now sports a dark green flourish in pinstripe form. This same color pinstripe works either side of the truck just below the belt line front to rear. New body matching sport mirrors are on the doors that still have their original door handles attached and working beautifully. For the back of the truck it's all bed, some chromed side pipes, more solid steel and that phat (and fat) gray body molded in trim spear covered in more battleship gray. These move to the rear where they frame the single simple round taillight with a chrome bezel. More dark green flourish highlights and another battleship gray bumper below. Just a slight bit of rust bubbling on the doors and scratches are rare but this truck has them in the paint every so often. The bed has dark stained pine intermixing with shiny metal hold down slats for the bed. Also, there is a NOS bottle container which is not hooked up, a stainless fuel cell and the stainless battery box, all easily accessible. 15-inch rally wheels are all around and upfront we note 225/65R15s and on the back big 29x18.5x15's.

Interior
A complete redux with leather textured light and dark vinyl for the door panels with a carpeted lower and shiny handles. Inside a dual overstuffed split back bench with more black and gray vinyl, and a large central fold down console. This seat is now power, and floats in an ocean of black carpeting. Fronting this is a custom metal dash, painted in body matching seafoam green, with a lineup of white faced gauges and matte bezels. An adjustable steering column with a rally Grant GT wheel is seen, and in the center is a B&M shifter. Above is a custom headliner in dark gray with just a hint of black ribbing on a center panel.

Drivetrain
A flip of the big bulbous hood, and floating in the center of a seafoam green engine bay is a consigner stated 355ci V8 with a 4-barrel Holley carburetor on top. A 700R4 transmission is on back and it is a 4-speed automatic which pushes power rearward to those fat rear tires via a Ford 9-inch rear. Power steering is in and power brakes are also a welcome upgrade. Headers and a Flowmaster exhaust can be noted too.

Undercarriage
Underneath is blasted and painted in black steel framing and suspension. A gen 3 Camaro frame is on the front with independent coil spring suspension and leaf springs for the rear. Power disc brakes are now on the front and power drums for the rear. Rockers are solid, and a transmission oil cooler with a fan has been strapped on to the underside. All add ons are neatly installed with wires and lines run with care throughout the undercarriage.

Drive-Ability
This truck roared to a start and accelerated like it was on fire to the test track and on it as well. It handles beautifully and comes to a quick stop. The power seats are a plus, and there are plenty of gauges to distract your attention on the dash.

A great and meticulous build, new engine, power accessories, and nice exterior paint with a comfy interior. A neat looker and a hot cooker, we give you the 1955 Apache 3100 custom self-proclaimed "My Chevy".
