Description of 1960 Chevrolet El Camino |
1960 Chevrolet El CaminoAll Numbers matching. Never restored. Mechanically excellent. RARE!!Rare. Dependable. Completely crazy original. Odometer shows 31. 61 miles. The brake pedal wear. interior. and overall soundness of this amazing El Camino cause me and my mechanic to believe the mileage to be correct. The car/truck (?) starts. drives. steers and performs like a 31. 00 vehicle. NOTHING cosmetically has been done. ALL numbers matching. ALL complete. Engine: Original 235 6 cylinder. Great compression. Starts easy. runs strong. New distributor. points. condenser and rotor. Carburetor just rebuilt. New Battery and fan belt. Amazingly this 54 year old motor does not leak oil! Transmission: Original 3speed on the column. Shifts flawlessly. No clutch chatter. No issues. I am a collector car guy. not a dealer. the soundness of this El Camino is unbelievable. doors and tailgate open and shut like they should. No sagging. no rattles. Glass: Nearly perfect. The only bubbling is in the drivers vent wing window around the edge. ALL other glass is in excellent condition and is completely original. No cracks. chips. fogging etc. Windows. (including the vent wings roll out/up and down like new. Windshield and the wrap-around rear window are in wonderful condition. Chrome and stainless are really. really good. One minor bump in the passenger side front headlight trim. Nothing is missing! Body: Very straight and completely untouched. I just washed it. Swirls. minor dings and scratches that come withlight use on a 31. 00 mile 54 year old collectible that has NEVER been retouched. Very minor rust over each rear fenderwell. and very small ribbon of rust in the bed floor. Paint bubbles on the hood where someone has left something light on the paint that caused discoloration. Undercarriage: Only surface rust here. Original shocks! Interior: Once again. all original. Dash is uncracked and in really good shape. Floor mat is dirty. ( I have started to clean the drivers side). but again it reflects the low. low mileage. Really good condition. Seats are original with no tears or rips. Minor separation in a seam that can be repaired. Headliner is also original and nice with 1 minor seam separation. Looks to be an original spare. and all jack components and lug wrench are there. I have the original Radio. See pictures. Electrical: ALL gauges and lights. including the dome light work well. Turn signals. high/low beam. brake lights etc. nbsp;work as they should. Horn works well. Brakes have been redone and work as they should. No pulling to the left or right. Tires are older but have 90% tread remaining. I believe this El Camino would easily pass an inspection. I also would not be afraid to drive it anywhere. I have been struggling with what to do with this car. They are only original once. This is a rare low mileagepiece in ANY condition. let alone unmolested like this one. Obviously a perfect candidate for a full frame offrestoration. I would hate to see this car hot rodded or chopped. I have attempted to describe this vehicle as welland honest as possible. Serious bidders are welcome to contact me at 816-729-8513.
