Description of 1968 Chevrolet Impala |
1968 Biscayne L72 427/425hp 4 speed with a 4;88 12 bolt was ordered by a mechanic at Bobb Chevrolet in Columbus Ohio in spring of 1968. A friend Roger went looking for a street race car and found this car in the back row at Bobb Chevrolet. He inquired about it and no one knew who ordered it. They found out he next day the young mechanic did but did not have the money to buy it so that is how Roger found the car. Roger and his friends named it Mr. Bisquick and raced it in B/S and did very well. (pictures are posted) In the winter of 1969 a guy with a 1967 Chevelle had to have the motor since it ran so well. Roger sold him the motor and transmission. Roger's neighbor bought the body and rear end in 1969. He had the car tubbed in 1980 by John Holt Race Cars here in Columbus. They left most of the stock floor and stock sub frame in the car. would not be hard to put the original rear end and wheel wells back in. I have the orginal stock rear end out of the car.. John still has his shop today. I bought the car in 2010 when John passed. I had a new GM LS 7 crate motor. The old school one you know 454 open chamber heads. I dressed it up to look like a 427/425hp, new clutch, blow proof bell housing an a like new Super T10 transmission. New drive shaft thatis connected to a Dana 60 whit a 4:56 gear. I had the original front and rear seat recovered, still have the original rear end and some other parts for the car. GOING TO RELIST FOR A SECOND TIME ONLY. I WILL KEEP IT AND PUT THE ORIGINAL BOLT IN IT AND KEEP IT UNTIL THE WIFE SELLS IT. THANKS ED Many people here in Columbus know the car well. Roger the original owner is still alive, John Holt is still here in Columbus. I had a long talk about the car with Roger right after I bought it. They only made 124 of these 1968 Biscayne's One brought $160,000.00 at auction. Have seen several sell for $80,000.00 to $100,000.00. I can be reached at 614-four96 four50six for any questions.
