Description of 1987 Chevrolet C-10 Silverado |
1987 was the end of the line for the square-jawed third generation C/K pickups, and today it's arguably the best year of all to own. This cool regular cab/short bed pickup sports an awesome Venetian Red over gray color combination, a smooth-running 350 cubic inch V8, and a long list of options, making this the one to own if you're a fan of the third generation trucks. You're not going to go wrong with a vintage truck like this, everyone loves them. Their popularity is easy to understand when you see one like this, with bright Venetian Red paint that looks sporty but an otherwise conservative look. The truck has never been rusty or damaged, and the incredibly straight sheetmetal is what makes the bright paint look so good, with great gloss and better than average panel fit. No cowl hood, no roll bar in the bed, no slammed stance, just a clean, original-looking truck that can still work. All the original trim remains intact and in great shape, including the bright rub strips along the body, the Silverado badges, and bright chrome bumpers fore and aft that look awesome against the vivid paint. The bed doesn't look like it has ever been bashed by heavy loads or grunt work and the floor is protected by a heavy duty rubber mat. One of the strengths of the third-generation C/K pickups was their ability to be optioned out like luxury cars, and this one is no exception. With gray upholstery on the wide bench seat, it's comfortable for two and will handle three in a pinch, and the patterns and materials look very OEM. Everything remains in excellent condition with only light wear and absolutely no splits or tears in the upholstery. Matching gray carpets are a nice blend of function and comfort, while the door panels are trimmed to look upscale. This truck is loaded with options, including upgraded R134a A/C, power windows, power locks, power steering, power brakes, a tilt wheel, cruise control, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo system. A complete array of gauges keeps an eye on things underhood, and even the dash pad remains in great condition, despite a life obviously spent in a warm, sunny climate. Chevy gave their pickups fuel injection in 1987, making them unique during the truck's 14-year production run, and arguably the most desirable. Fuel injection excels at making torque, and in the regular cab/short bed body, the throttle-body injected 350 delivers surprising performance. The engine bay is pretty clean, too, another perk of careful ownership and a healthy climate, and there's evidence of recent maintenance. It starts easily with a snarky rumble from the custom exhaust system, and thanks to the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission, cruises effortlessly (and efficiently) at highway speeds. It's pretty original underneath and for a truck that's eligible for AACA antique status, well, there's not much to complain about. The handsome steel wheels recall classic Chevrolet Rallys and wear fat 235/75/15 Michelin white-letter radials. If you're looking for a clean truck with no needs and a great color combination, you can't do much better than this. Call today! |
