Description of 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Tribute |
This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Tribute backs up its intimidating appearance with a performance-built big block V8 and a close ratio four-speed. And as you dig deeper, everything from the fit of the panels, to the added driver touches tells you this mean machine is also a thoughtful total build. This Camaro is the right combination of vintage looks mixed with some desirable upgrades. It all starts with the first impression the paint gives. You got some great blue options from the factory in 1968, however, this upgrade has a nice metallic element and a deep clearcoat luster. It allows the sunlight to really radiate of the body panels and show off the crisp creases of the well-done sheetmetal. The front end has a nice aggressive blackout treatment as the SS bumblebee stripe package combines with the upgraded RS front end and chin spoiler. The rear also has its own aggressive style with the D80 rear spoiler and serious large exhaust tips. And everything from the louvered hood trim to the polished Cragar wheels with extra large/meaty rear tires give this the look of both quality and power. The full black interior is absolutely muscle car friendly. But there's more going on here. It has an overall comfortable style, and there are even nice upgrades like the cup holder center console and provisions for R134a air conditioning (will need servicing to blow cold again.) And because they took the time to upgrade this Camaro, they also made sure it was a more driver-focused machine. That's why you have an upgrade sports steering wheel and a SunPro tach prominently mounted on the column. Add in the full auxiliary readout trio and a Hurst floor shifter, and you know there's something special under the even before you twist the key and hear it roar. The look like they couldn't stuff any more motor in this engine bay. Plus, the tidy look with slick inner walls, bright Chevrolet valve covers, good hoses, and a blue matching air grabber all make sure you'll proudly show off this setup. The 454 cubic-inch V8 is the big boy amongst the big blocks, and this one has been upgraded further with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, a high rise intake, and ceramic-coated long tube headers feeding the dual exhaust. It even has the right supporting component, like an MSD electronic ignition and a large aluminum radiator. It's a seriously mean machine, and so you take firm control as the Muncie M21 close ratio four-speed manual transmission feeds a stout 12-bolt rear end. Actually, firmness and control are central themes to this Camaro, and so that's why you also have subframe connectors and traction bars. Add in power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and wide BF Goodrich T/As, and this is sturdy package that feels as confident as a firm handshake. When a sleek and powerful Camaro like this is up for grabs, you know you don't have long to make it yours. Call today!!! |
