Description of 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS |
This 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS was one of the last of the great rear-wheel drive V8 coupes. It's the kind of legacy that ensures them a place in history. That's why those looking for collector examples should pay attention to this exceptionally preserved SS up for grabs. The ultra-low odometer is believed to reflect this car's total actual mileage. That proves how outstanding a cherished classic this one is. There has been a lot of care that has gone into this coupe for nearly 35 years, and so this original factory black paint still knows how to shine. This deep gloss really shows off the quality of the sheetmetal and crisp lines. Just as important is the wraparound tri-tone stripe package. It's a hallmark of this SS coupe, and the bold shades of red really pop against the black. Plus, we love this generation Monte Carlo SS because it was built to cheat the wind. The special aerodynamic front end, sleek sides, and subtle ducktail spoiler were all part of NASCAR-inspired engineering. Of course, what this package really did was give these SS coupes a modern chrome-free appearance that today makes them a mean-looking stand-out on the streets. The maroon interior was a good choice in this SS. It matches the bold but sophisticated tone of the exterior. And just like the outside, this appears like an exceptionally preserved time capsule. So you'll love the soft and premium feel of everything from the plush carpeting to the velour upholstery. The bucket seats up front provide good bolstering and have the same all-day comfort you expect in any Monte Carlo. You also get comfort features such as a center console, cruise control, factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, and cold blowing factory air conditioning. The driver gets a grippy dual-spoke SS steering wheel. It's on a tilt column to give you a clear view at sporty full gauge package (including tach), and it's all set in a black and red dash that neatly mimics the exterior color theme. These SS coupes received the 305 cubic-inch High Output V8 direct from Chevy. When a car is this original inside and out, it's essential have the numbers-matching powerplant still under the hood. It remains crisply stock, right down to the factory decals. In fact, this car is so original that it's even on the factory Goodyear Eagle GT. So this is true rolling history. When you do decide to add miles to the low odometer, the HO V8 is a strong runner with plenty of old-school muscle car torque. Plus, this setup is linked to a 200-4R four-speed automatic transmission - an overdrive unit that makes this SS coupe a fantastic highway cruiser. The complete driving package also includes power steering, front disc brakes, a limited slip rear end, and thick sway bars front & rear. Complete with owner's manual, this a true time capsule of a significant V8 classic. So if you're looking for a collector/survivor, call today! |
