Description of 1977 Chevrolet Vega GT |
1977 Chevrolet Vega GT Hatchback with 35k miles. Original Dura-Built 2.3L 2bbl with the Borg-Waner T50 5spd manual transmission with overdrive and air conditioning. Original owner bought the car in April 1977 from Carter Chevrolet in Connecticut. Owner had the car parked in storage from 1982-2016. I am the 2nd titled owner of the car. Still have a copy of the original owner title. Have a copy of the original invoice from GM. Car was purchased from a gentleman who removed the car from storage but never titled it. Car has original Silver Metallic paint, Firethorn Red interior, original exhaust with converter and original spare tire. I believe that the clutch is also original as it doesn't appear as tho the transmission has been removed to service it. Sunroof on car was an aftermarket installation back before it went into storage. Sunroof does not leak. Car had Ziebart rustproofing done it back when it was new which explains the little to no rust the car has on it anywhere. Only place the car had a rust issue was from a mouse nest under the spare tire while it was stored all those years put a hole there. Hole was patched but not professionally. Body is straight has a couple of parking lot type dings in it and a plug was installed in a hole on the passenger fender from where the original owner had a CB Antenna installed. Paint on roof is slightly faded/discolored. Gas tank was replaced. No tears in the seats. Dash and door panels have no cracks. Headliner in excellent shape. Carpet does have a couple of stains. Installed 8-Track Radio from a 77 Corvette. Comes with 77 8-Track tape dealers handed out. Wheel faces were repainted. Flip out window trim is off the vehicle was missing a piece on each side i still have the original pieces. Exhaust does have a very small leak by the muffler. Emissions decal on driver sunvisor was replaced. Shift knob was replaced with NOS part. Spare tire well area was repainted with original aqua splatter paint. Spare tire decal replaced. Original owner had speakers installed in rear panels. I have put a little over 2k miles on the car since i've owned it. Paint on engine very faded, gentleman who pulled car out of storage had repainted the valve cover Ford blue had to repaint it the correct color. Car drives very well you could daily this if you wanted to, she's slow but drives real nice. Two things i could pick on the car could use an alignment and the original clock works intermittantly. Car gets alot of attention at shows everyone seems to remember someone that had one of these cars back in the day. My family had a couple of them when i was a kid. 1 of 4276 GT's made in 77 1 of 2377 with 5spd Parts that i have replaced: Underhood Insulation Air Filter Fuel Filter Canister Filter Spark Plugs Distributor Cap & Rotor Battery Carburetor rebuilt Valve cover gasket & grommet PCV Valve Driver & Passenger Seat Springs Front Sway Bar Links Front Pads (Rotors resurfaced) New BFG Radial TA P205/60R13 tires installed in 2019 All 4 shocks replaced with NOS replacement shocks Driver and passenger door sill trim Driver door belt molding Original radiator was redone AC Delco A/C Compressor A/C recharged Original part number Alternator and AC belts installed AC Delco horn Original fuel sender was repaired and restored In tank electric pump Radio Rear Speakers |
