Description of 1966 Chevrolet Nova Super Sport

True survivor car! West coast - no cancer. Garage kept gem! Daily Driver!

Many people have told me to paint this car, and many others said to leave paint as is. I love the rat-rod style of the current paint, while it runs and looks better than your typical rat-rod.

Numbers matching, clean & clear title, all stock. Low reserve, fair price.

I listed this car a couple months ago. The high bidder decided not to buy/could not come up with payment, worried about driving 500 miles, made no effort/no interest/no questions about the car. Bid was cancelled.

Just got the Nova back 9/01/23 from my auto mechanic (SamTech Auto in Escondido, CA). It is in tip-top shape, running smoothly and ready to drive home anywhere.

The work performed on this car was:

  • Full flushing of the gas tank (sat in garage throughout Covid, bad fuel)
  • Replaced Fuel Filter, fuel sending unit, float
  • Spark plugs replaced, distributor cap and rotors
  • Carburetor has been rebuilt and tuned

  • No longer runs rough, no sputtering.

Nova is now ready to drive home, road safe.

Work performed in the last 6 years:

    New Napa battery in 2022.

3-point front seatbelts installed (This is the first model off the line that has the ceiling bolts needed to install this kind of belt).

Front dash ash tray and assembly added and custom powder coated - looks perfect.

Rubber spacers added to front folding seats to fix to correct upright position.

    Rebuilt heater core and housing.

New glove box compartment - custom lined fabric.

Installed new carpeting and underneath seal.

    Only Issues:

    No seatbelts on rear bench.

Occasional valve noise, hits valve cover, no ability to adjust further. Does not interfere or cause any problems.

Fuel gauge and clock is out/or stuck. Wipers do not work or are not hooked up. AM Radio added but not hooked up.

Things next owner will probably want to work on:

Probably want to pound out dents in top of roof. No headliner, needs replacement.

    Front-end, back-end, suspension, bushings.

Brake lights work, does require a double tap to turn off (quirky things with a 50+year old car!).

This is the most desired body style 2-door "hardtop" not the ugly 4-door or post. If you know, you know.

1966 Chevy Nova SS Hardtop Factory ZA Code 327 4 Speed SS

This is a factory SS: 1966 Nova 118 Super Sport 4 speed car. West coast survivor car that has had most of the mechanical parts rebuilt before I purchased.

Rebuilt 1966 327 motor (NOM 3858174) with aluminum heads and intake, 309 bellhousing, rebuilt 3855010 Muncie M20 4 Speed and original BE code 308 posi dated 11-10-G. New 2 1/4" Dynamax exhaust system, new HD aluminum radiator & new front & back drum brakes. Interior floor sheet metal was super clean - no rust, saw this when changing carpet. Seat covers are original from a '67 Nova with the racing stripes (I like these better). Original spare tire and tire iron in trunk.

Factory "ZA" Code 327/275 hp car and the original engine block comes with the car was damaged and will need machine work. This original engine has some rust but can easily be restored. It is included in the purchase of this car and will be stowed in the trunk.

The 4 speed is documented on the trim tag.It has an extremely nice original dash pad and steering wheel with no cracks, original wiper blade holders, washer bottle, POP, 4 speed shifter, beautiful original L79 air cleanertop and all GM body panels. This is a solid Pacific Northwest car with no cancer. The trim tag decodes as 02B (February 1966, second week) build date, EE paint whichis Danube Blue (not sure on the story of current paint job but I love it!)

765B which is factory black bucket seat interior with console.W2L, 4 speed transmission. This is a good running car that will still need some fairly easy work to be done to complete the restoration. The original POP was found under the carpet, it does not have the imprint. There is also a carbon copy of the title in the original owners name. It is a 2 owner car. True survivor car.

Shifts well, clutch is stiff. Typical surface rust for 50 years old, no body rot. Dash is in excellent condition.

Center shifter console looks amazing, always loved this style console. Wheel hubcaps all original. Original steering wheel is beautiful.

Currently getting all documentation and extras ready for next owner. Thank you and good luck! Sad to see her go!
