Description of 1987 Chevrolet Camaro |
To start with, let me first say that I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard-earned money, I feel that there is never too much information. As for myself, I am a (74) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I am retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback that is at 100% with (1,387) transactions. Some Brief History on the Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z28: TheIROC-Z model of the ChevroletCamarofirst made its public appearance in 1985 as an add on option to the 1985CamaroZ28 model. TheIROC-Z was introduced in 1985 and continued through 1990. But its origin began long before that.IROCstands for International Race of Champions which is an automobile racing series similar to what NASCAR is. 1987 brought about only minor changes to the IROC. The motors now had the new center bolt style heads and manifolds had a revised bolt hole angle to accommodate the different heads. The motors also made the switch to hydraulic roller camshafts. This gave a 3.5% increase in gas mileage, and an extra 5 horsepower. Visually, the 87 is identical to the 86 model, except that the third brake light moved from up on the rear hatch, to down in the rear spoiler. 1990 saw the end of the IROC Z28 Camaro model. Now for your consideration is my friends 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z28. I don’t know what to say about this Camaro other than it is wicked rare. Look at the Hagerty Value Change Over Time and you will see that the 1987 IROC Z28 with the 350ci engine, in good condition, according to Hagerty is $25,400 and in fair condition is $15,300. I have been told that almost every IROC hardtop came from the factory with T-tops. This IROC does not have T-tops. Also, this IROC came with the Borg Warner 9-bolt rear axle that is also quite rare. As with all the cars that I sell on eBay, the easiest way for a prospective buyer to get a sense for my cars is with tons of information and loads of photos and a video. Feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them and respond ASAP. To see tons of photos and a video, just ask and I will send you the links. The 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z28. WA L8555 Lower Body Color, Black U8555 Upper Body Color, Black 822 Leather, Medium Dark Gray Exterior: Paint is not perfect but not too bad. Does have a few spots where rust is starting. The rims are good, but the center caps are missing. The glass is all good. Interior: The interior is pretty good apart from the driver’s seat. The carpet and door panels are OK. The dash has no warping or fading but does have two cracks. The original steering wheel is gone, and an aftermarket steering wheel has been installed. There is a working horn button under the steering wheel. The center console is in working order but does have rips. Seat belts are present and in good condition. Windows are in good working order. All gauges are working. Engine: The original engine sits nicely in the engine bay. There are no messy engine leaks or annoying exhaust puffing sounds and the overall look is clean and neat in appearance. Transmission: The 4-speed automatic transmission appears to be the factory original. There are no leaks or funny noises, and the transmission shifts up and down through the gears as it should with no issues. The automatic transmission shifter cable should be replaced at some point and there is a new automatic transmission shifter cable in the trunk area. Rear Axle: The rear axle is a rare 9-bolt Borg Warner and appears to be the factory original 3.27:1 performance ratio limited slip. There are no funny noises, clunking or leaking observed. Trunk: The trunk is in good condition with the working electric open and close option. What appears to be the original spare tire is present, however the jack assembly is not. Undercarriage: The undercarriage is good, showing few signs of rust or rot. Look at the extensive undercarriage photos which will display the undercarriage condition better than any description that I can conger up. There is a wicked nice Flowmaster 3” exhaust which appears to be quite new. WINNING BIDDER DOES NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO LOOK THIS CAR OVER AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSES TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THEY WANT TO BUY.
