Description of 1991 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 1500 454 SS |
This truck has been well loved and well used since it was bought by my husband and I when it was only 2 years old. But it now needs someone who wants to restore it to its original beauty. It needs paint badly! The headliner glue has given up and there is a small tear in the upholstery in the drivers seat. It has the usual door dings and it has one small dent on the passenger side. The front bumper skirt probably needs replacing. There are 4 Bushwacker flares on the truck and one of those has some damage. Also the passenger side seat belt no longer fastens. -- Those are the bad things -- But now for the good!It runs great. The engine is strong. but is running a bit rough -- probably needs new injectors. It has a new distributor. the air conditioning has been retrofitted and it has a new brake job. The rubber is good. It was used for some towing so it has towing type mirrors on the truck. however included are the original factory mirrors. In the pictures. you will see that the center hubs on the wheels are missing. I have them - they just didn't get put back on the truck yet after the brake job. There are very few 1991 454 SS trucks around. The SS's were produced from 1990-1993. Total number of units produced was 16. 53. its best year in 1990 with a total of 13. 48 units sold. that left a total of 3205 sold from 91-93. For 1991. a four-speed electronic automatic transmission (known as the 4L80E). 25 more horsepower. and even higher torque (405 lbs/ft at 2400 rpm) were added to the 454SS. The rear-axle ratio was also lowered to 4. 10:1 for extra jolt off the line. On the dash was a tachometer. oddly omitted from 1990 models. You just don't find 1991 SS 454's any more. Here's your chance to own a piece of automotive history and fix it up to your specs. |
