Description of 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle

First time offered for sale1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454. This is an original 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Super-Sport. This car was originally equipped with a 350ci engine as indicated by the "J" as the fifth letter in the VIN. In 1972 (the last year of the Chevelle's) the SS package could be purchased with any 8 cylinder engine. This car has been beautifully and meticulously restored as close to its original splendor as possible just as it left the factory back in 1972. This has the super rare Mulsanne blue paint with black stripes. graphite Chevelle rims. black top and black interior. The 454 engine and 400 Turbo automatic transmission is period correct and professionally built (build sheet in the glove box). The entire car and power train has less than 100 miles on it since restored. This car is as close to brand new as you can get. There are way too many new parts to list. so I will start with what is original. All of the body panels are original. All of the glass and upper chrome trim is original. The dashboard and back seat are original. That's about it - everything else has been replaced/restored. Just some highlights;- New bumpers front and rear- All new badges. decals. stickers. lower trim & chrome- New bucket seats- New center console with horseshoe shifter- All new brakes (master. booster. lines. rotors. drums. complete)- New engine. transmission. rear end. linkage. axles (complete drive train)- New vinyl top. paint. undercarriage. spatter-coat in trunk. liners. carpet (professionally done by GM employees)- New rims and BFG tires- New radiator. Delco battery. steering wheel. grill. and many. many more partsThis car runs and drives great (perfectly straight in every way). but is only about 97% complete and cannot be considered "showroom" until the following work is complete;- No emergency brakes (I have all brand new oem parts and cables that go with car. but they need to be installed). - No horn (I cannot find the original black horns in new condition)- No wiring harness for radio (I have a near perfect Delco AM radio and new knobs that go with car. but no harness. The original clips are under the dash - wires have NOT been cut). - No overflow bowl for radiator (radiator overflow hose runs straight down which is fine. but not factory correct)- Chrome camshaft and crankshaft pulleys are chrome and would need to be replaced with oem black if you want a 100% showroom car. - Glove compartment light does not work (I traced all the wires and simply can't figure it out)- I would consider the paint much better than factory. but I found a few very small flaws. There is a small chip about 1/2" on edge of hood by the grill and a small 3/4" chip in the clearcoat at the bottom of the passenger door. These are barely noticable. but should be addressed. I have an ample amount of custom made touchup paint that goes with the car. - Headliner is original and in very good condition but has a couple of very small cuts near the driver side sun visor. Brand new oem headliner is included with the car. but will need to be installed (very difficult to instal perfectly). - Air breather is not original and does not operate cowl induction hood. The originals are ugly. but necessary if you're going for showroom. Cowl induction currently is set up with vacuum hoses linked to carb. - No choke on carburetor. Original choke was thermostatically controlled. but this car does not have the original Holly carb. - Hood hinge on passenger side has a little play in it which is odd because it is new (I have another new oem hinge that goes with car). Above is a list of the things that the new owner will have to address. Nothing what I would consider major as far as money is concerned. but more along the lines of tedious or time consuming. Most of the parts are included. Again. this car has been very nicely restored to the way it looked when it left the factory. It is currently stored in my heated garage. Car runs and drives very nice and goes down the road straight. Brakes and steering are perfect. All the electrical components (except for glove box light and radio) work just as they should. Charging system works perfect and there are no electrical shorts of any kind. Any known issues have been listed above. Please keep in mind that this car is ready to drive. but it is geared very low for racing (and yes. it is very. very fast). What does that mean? If you plan on driving it long distances above 55 mph. you will likely burn up a very expensive rear end. I would highly recommend trailering this car if going long distance.
