Up for your consideration: Selling Dad's 1964 Impala. This was badged as a SS409 when we bought it. The previous owner(s) replaced the engine with a Chevy 350. We have the SS409 fender badges. and there is an extra fuel return line that is not in use (because of the 350). The 2nd and 3rd digit of the VIN decode to "SS-V8". you be the judge. Take it or leave it. it is what it is. Here's what we do know about it:Engine and transmission: Chevrolet 350 CID. stamped V0603AFA on the front. I can't get to the rear casting numbers to see them. Running headers and full exhaust out the back. Engine has some leaks. looks like from the front main and valve covers. The engine does not smoke or knock. Transmission is 4-speed manual. parts replaced a couple of months ago. Shifts smooth most of the time. but occasionally it can be hard to get into gear. Engine compartment: Typical driver condition. some light dirt in spots. The wiper motor is not installed or hooked up. The motor went bad. There is an additional unknown. untested unit included. Steering and suspension: Gear box appears to be leaking. Steering linkage is tight. but boots could be replaced. Shocks are good all around. air ride is non-functional. Brakes and tires: Power drum brakes are functioning at this time. Tires are all in really good condition. Interior: Typical driver condition: The glove box and center console latch are inoperative and would need to be replaced. There is a 4" tear and a 2" in the driver seat. The passenger side door panel is in need of repair. Headliner is nice and has those tiny little stars embossed into it. The interior quarter trim panels are "wrinkled" and need to be repaired or otherwise straightened out. Dash is in mostly good condition. small cracks up towards the windshield. The steering wheel is in good shape. Gauges work with the exception on the tach. Trunk area looks good. there are some areas where it looks like water sat at one point. but no rust holes. Radio is not stock to the car. but one of those retro-looking late model ones. Exterior: Typical of a daily driver. very minor incidents of scratches. no real big dents (or little ones for that matter). Driver side rocker panel under the door has some paint chips missing. Zoom in on the pic. Chrome is not perfect. especially of front. It appears that the quarter panel on the driver side MAY have been replaced at some point. I'm not a body expert but I do see where it was possibly either replaced or repaired. It was done right and well. not an obvious fix. I had to look for it. No obvious bondo. Undercarriage: For the most part it looks good under the car. However. there are some rust areas on the left side body mounts on the driver side. They are still functioning. but I would fix at some point. Mileage: Current odometer reading is 97326. I would not call this car a perfect 10. it does need some loving. Great car for someone who wants to actually DRIVE it. If you need more information or pictures. please contact me. I don't bite. Serious inquires get my phone number.
