Description of 1969 Chevrolet Camaro |
This is an absolutely stunning 1969 Nickey COPO Camaro tribute car with a period correct 427 COPO motor. In the 60's and 70's Nickey was a Chicago based high performance Chevrolet dealer responsible for some of the most radical street/strip cars known to exist. Specializing in High Performance 427 Camaros and Chevelles as well as a catalogue selling almost any high performance accessory a guy could imagine. Nickey Chevrolet may well have been the forerunner of 427 Camaros and Chevelles ahead of the likes of Yenko Chevrolet. Baldwin Motion. and Gibb Chevrolet. In no small part was this feat accomplished with the help of one of the winningest racecar drivers of that era. "Mr. Chevrolet". Dick Harrell. Early in the high performance 427 Camaro days. it was the team of Dick Harrell and Bill Thomas that masterminded the Nickey 427 Camaro. At that time. Bill Thomas was THE guru of big block Chevrolet race motors. This combination of engine builder and racer was of a fame that certainly could sell cars. The unique tribute car we are offering is a near exact reproduction of a Nickey Stage II 427 Super Car. with the addition of a holy grail 1969 427 COPO motor (see below for numbers). With the telltale Winters foundry casting mark on the intake manifold and the iconic Turbo Jet/450 HP decal on the air cleaner. this is one of the most legendary. powerful. and buttery engines GM ever produced. Mated to a M21 Muncie 4 speed. power is sent to the wheels through a 12 bolt rear end with 3:73 posi gears. The freshly completed restoration with only 200 miles since completion was painstakingly completed with attention to the last detail. Starting with correct Hugger Orange paint (code 72 72). COPO 9561 trim was meticulously added. Including RPO-D80 front and rear spoiler. cowl induction hood. Enduro front bumper. COPO curved neck radiator. correct Hurst round bar shifter. and PRO-Z21 style trim. Rounding off the exterior are a set of period correct style 15 inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in brand new Firestone Red --Line tires. while the Nickey decals are icing on the cake. The interior has also been immaculately restored to correct black trim code 711. A set of underdash oil pressure and temp gauges. and a equally rare steering column mounted fuel gauge help you keep an eye on important fluids. A correct big block heater box and heater core keep you warm if needed while the gorgeous Rosewood steering wheel is paired with power steering and power disc brakes to give the car an intoxicatingly easy drive. All you need to do is look at the pictures to see what a flawless restoration this Nickey COPO tribute car is. It is an absolute joy to drive and turns heads anywhere it goes. On top of that it has a beast of a motor that will lay rubber at a moment's notice. and when you pop the hood at a car show. those "who know" know you are not messing around. The camaro was just named coolest camaro at the good guys show in pleasanton. On Apr-20-15 at 10:19:01 PDT. seller added the following information:** This 69 nickey copo tribute 427 is a "coupe" not a convertible. I am sorry if it caused confusion for people. ebay wont let me back in to edit it. The pictures in the ad are the actual pictures of the car. thank you |
