Description of 1942 Chevrolet Other |
I am selling this beautiful Street Rod for a close friend. Please direct your questions by phone to 330-608-4028. The car is for sale locally and we reserve the right to end the auction should the car sell locally. See details below on this VERY RARE beauty: From Street Rodder magazine June 1999 Originally the 1942 Sedan Delivery was found in a Cleveland Ohio storage building where the owner had stored it as an unfinished project. The second owner and his brother then purchased the 42. He drove it for almost a year before deciding to go the street rod build. His brother cut off the front clip that made it the road of no return. The 42 was fitted with a 1969 Camaro front clip and the 116 inch wheelbase was fitted with a modified cross-member and an owner built rear K member. The Camaro front disc brakes were retained while a 1974 Camaro 10 bolt with 3. 23:1 gears. a steering column. the wheel. and a Saginaw power steering box were all placed into service. The power comes from a 1980 Chevy small block with 350 cubic inches and rebuilt installing a speed pro cam. cloyes double roller timing chain. a set of Rhoads lifters. and a melling oil pump. Supplying the fuel is an Edelbrock Performer intake topped by a 600 cfm Carter four barrel. The transmission is a 1980 GM TH 350 with a reworked valve body via a Trans Go Shift kit and a Lokar shifter. The sedan delivery body was retained for the most part. its stock configuration. with the following exceptions: shaved door handles. a molded-in gas door. and the center down-bar from the grille insert removed. The front headlights were frenched. while the taillights are side markers from a 1980 Omega. The 42 was sprayed with Standox acrylic urethane in Tornado red with red pearl pin-stripes over bodywork by the owner and his brother. The window glass is all custom. Inside a set of Pontiac Fiero buckets are used in the front along with a Nissan mini van rear. all stitched in a cream-colored leatherette by Portage Trim in Ravenna. Ohio. The custom dashboard features VDO gauges. a Billet Specialties insert and a Painless Wiring kit. Also supplying the sound is a Blaupunkt stereo with a Jensen booster and Pioneer speakers. My friend purchased the 1942 from the 2nd owner in 2005 and has been enjoying it ever since. but it is now time to move on. His loss is your gain! No Trades. Bid with confidence given my 100% rating. Do you believe in your car dreams? This is a turn the key and GO car with nothing to do but enjoy at the car shows! Good Luck and Good Bidding!! |
