Description of 1968 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 - Resto Mod Wagon - |
1968 Chevrolet Bel Air Wagon Hard to find wagon Fresh build Performance mods Up for bids is this sharp '68 Bel Air wagon. A western car for many years. it has recently been gone through with an all new drivetrain. paint. chrome and interior. Road proven with about 3000 miles since the build. the car is running a strong 400ci motor with a TH350 transmission. disc brakes up front and Air-Ride suspension on all four corners. Click to enlarge any of the images below. OR click here to view a gallery of all of the enlarged images. The wagon was repainted in its original color of Teal Blue Poly (Code LL). The paint is to good driver quality standards. it's not $30. 00 Ridler Award paint but still pretty darn nice. Color sanding would bring it up even a level more but as it sits it's nice paint that you'd be proud to show. I'm a little picky about paint and there's 2 flaws that I've noticed: Where the roof rack mounting points were filled in you can see some subtle surface shrinkage if the light is just right. and if you knew where to look. most would never notice. My camera couldn't pick it up no matter how hard I tried. The 2nd flaw is a small paint chip on the passenger side front door. Otherwise. that's it. There's no overspray. scratches. dings. dents or other chips - it looks very sharp. Zero rust issues with all original sheet metal and pinch welds. The photos I've taken show the Air-Ride setting at its lowest point (it hits the stops at 40psi). All 4 corners are adjustable on the fly. if you notice in the 3rd photo below you can adjust it to dead level (top of photo) or with a subtle rake (bottom section of photo). The 4 photo below shows the car at 110psi so there's a wide range in between to play with. The 427 emblems are just for grins although some of these wagons were actually factory equipped that way. Wheels are 20" Coys in front and 22" in the rear. all 4 are flawless with no damage. Tires are Hankook V12 Evo's that are nearly new. All of the car's glass is in excellent overall condition with a only few small flaws (scuff. light scratch). Both bumpers were rechromed and are mint. The rear has a minor fitment issue on the driver's side that should be able to be adjusted out. Beltline trim strips and all of the stainless is in excellent shape with no dings. damage or cloudiness. Really great looks from any angle. this wagon is definitely high on eyeball. The interior retains a stock look. it has new carpet and seats re-upholstered in the original pattern. The remainder is original and still in super condition. Desirable two spoke wheel. Gauges and controls all operate correctly with the exception of the turn signals. Rear gate window operates both off the dash and with the door key. Very nice dash with no splits. Original headliner has one small mended tear at the back otherwise it's pretty mint. Rear seat and cargo area are both very clean and the car has all new weatherstripping throughout. Few small dents in the cargo hold. overall looking good. The storage compartment holds the Air-Ride system hidden away. A full size car cover is also included. You'll definitely like the way this motor runs. Starts at the flick of the switch and just runs excellent. 10:1 compression with a mild cam. has a very streetable idle and great performance. Super wide powerband. hit the passing lane at 70. nudge the gas and it responds instantly with seamless power. I recently drove the car the 4 hours from Seattle to Portland and had zero issues other than some vagueness in road feel from the low profile tires. a tradeoff I guess. The car has all new front end components. new brakes. new cooling system and a new steering box. The TH350 transmission is all new and shifts perfectly. Recent alignment. it tracks straight and brakes straight. Great exhaust note. Just a really strong running car. Nice attention to detail throughout the engine bay. lots of time spent here dialing things in. Very solid undercarriage. no rattle-can black covering things up. What you see is what you get and what you're looking at are original 47 year old floorpans and rockers that are still looking great. Click here for a gallery of all of the enlarged images.
