Description of 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle |
Up for auction I have a 1970 Chevelle SS-396. I've been in the restoration business for 34 years and have been selling on eBay since 1999. My description might be lengthy but honest. This car belongs to a customer of mine; it has been sitting in my storage building waiting its turn for restoration but he's foundanother project so he asked me to sell it. I know the history of this car back to the late 90's.The previous owner is my employee so all the following info is 100% legit. The speedo shows 77197 and it's probably not the real number. The original motor & trans had been used up and a junk 350/auto combo was in it when he bought it. It now has a 454/auto setup in it. The engine was built locally by a reputable circle track shop. The dyno sheet showed 498 hp & 560 lb ft of torque. It is .060 over with all name brand parts Comp Cams 280H cam & kit all ARP fasteners original #290 heads with Ferrea stainless valves Comp springs & roller rockers Moroso 6 qt oil panEdelbrock Victor Jr.intake 750 DP Holley Fel-Pro MSD Hooker etc. The trans has been rebuilt with a Coan 10" street competition converter that has an honest 3500 stall. It has a trans cooler in front. The rear axle is the original code CCF 12-bolt posi with 3.31 gears. This car will melt the tires with easeand is very reliable. It runs greatbut needs at least 93 octane or better gasto stay out of the dreaded ping. Not a lot of options on this Chevelle: PS PDB tinted glass buckets & console. The interior is stillall original and needs re-done. The body itself will need the usual: quarters doors or door skins maybe the fenders. The floor pans have narrow rust areas along the braces under the bucket seats certainly fixable. The trunk pan is the same way. The rest of the body will restore nicely. From what I can see this car has never been wrecked or had any major repairs other than an old enamel paint job probably from the early 80's. This car was originally code 14 Cortez Silver I found part of the build sheet in the back seat springs when I was cleaning it up. The gas tank & sender are new the BFG tires are also like new the lights wipers dome light and even the key/door buzzer works. The brakes work great too. Drive it home!!! THIS IS A GREAT STARTER PROJECT YOU CAN STILL DRIVE AND ENJOY WHILE SAVING UP FOR THE BIG PAINT EVENT!!!! Please no low-ball offers they will be deleted. All other questions will be answered promptly. I have a clean clear title in front of me and the car is sold "as is". A $500 non-refundable Paypal deposit is due within 48 hours of auction's end. Balance in CASH or BANK TRANSFERONLY within 7 days of auction's end. I live in southern MN just minutes from 2 major interstate highways. Easy to find. The car can be stored for 30 days in a safe secure building until shippers arrive as long as it's paid in full. As always inspections are encouraged. Thanks and happy bidding!! |
