Description of 1985 Chevrolet El Camino SS |
For sale is a very nice 1985 El Camino SS I bought from an estate sale. All I know is the last owner bought it 15 years ago and used it for a show car. It has a lot of equipment added for it's day. As far as I know everything works including the ice cold a/c and even the cruise control. There is a small drip from the oil pan area. Did not bother me so I did not get around to fixing it. Here is the story behind this car I was looking for a "cool" street car for my 18 year old son and looked for over 6 months and found this car. All original except for the paint which is a very nice repaint. It has the original colors with a clearcoat. I wanted a nice car with a/c small V8 automatic and disc brakes and found it with this car. I would not be selling it except my son got in a bit of trouble and now it is being sold. Here is what I know: Exterior is a 9.5 out of a 10 I would give it a 10 but there a couple of rock chips if you look close enough. Factory colors super straight sheet metal and NO RUST ever. I added the SS wheels. The paint is a basecoat/ clearcoat and was done correctly. Meaning all the trim was either taken off or replaced. I know it has new window sweeps new door weather strip and new window weatherstrip. The bed looks like it has never been used no dents nothing. The bed rails were factory added option bumpers both look very nice. Interior is a solid 8.0 out of a 10 everything works lights gauges cruise tilt a/c 6040 bench seat was an option and looks as new new head liner. Loses points for old carpet and steering wheel that was replaced with a Grant wood wheel. Looks nice but I like original. Still has the original spare and looks unused. I added the Pioneerc.d./ I-podplayer under dash 6X9 speakers in boxes behind the seatas not disrupt factory look. Powertrain is a 8.0 out of a 10 needs a small drip of oil fixed size of a dime if left in garage for a couple of days. V8 305 original with aluminum valve cover added. Starts runs perfect but still only a small V8 with not much power. Has original automatic original rear axle both drive out fine with no known issues noises or vibrations. This car starts and drives very smooth and at 70 with cruise is a very nice ride. Has power steering power disc brakes. I flushed the coolant system changed the oil and replaced fuel filter. Misc. Has factory manual brochures and several sets of keys tinted windows newer dual exhaust. I know I don't have much feedback but if not everything I'm stating feel free to walk away after looking at it in person. If interested and you live near Houston I can show it almost anytime. I ask for a deposit of $500 within 48 hours of winning bid and final payment within another 48 hours. The starting price I'm asking is $2000 less than I have in the car and the buy it now is what I paid for it Ijust need to sell it. I have new Corvette and my wife has a new Lexus and wants it gone. If you want additional pictures of anything I missed or questions about itemail me and I will reply asap. Bottom line if you are looking for an El Camino and want factory orginal that has been well taken care all of its lifeof this is the perfect car. |
