Description of 1956 Chevrolet Other Pickups |
Anyone that might be looking at this listing can probably admit they have too many projects...me included. i bought this truck in 1997 and have been working on it on and off...mostly off until recently. This truck is very close to being ready to prep for paint. I have done some modifications to make it more awesome. My fabricator and I installed a front suspension clip from an 80 Firebird. That being said it has front disc brakes power steering and power brakes. We added a tilt column steering wheel as well with functioning turn signals and horn. This truck having been in Texas has very solid floor boards and most of metal is in great shape considering it's just shy of 60 yrs old. We raised the engine up about 4 inches for aesthetics. The engine is a 350 ci 4 bbl out of an 81 Z28 Camaro and then was reworked with new bearings guides pistons etc. I added a new aluminum radiator to keep her cool and new headers to help her breathe. Figuring we're pretty close to 300hp. Not too radical...but plenty of power. Engine is mated up to a freshly rebuilt 4 speed overdrive tranny from an 88 Suburban. Final drive is a rear end from a 1980 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup. Front brakes we're just reworked with new calipers hoses and hardware. I added a new windshield and seal and have a new seal for the back glass. The truck does run and drive! The bed will need to be reworked...but I figure whoever takes this on will probably do a frame off restoration so they can realize a huge return on their investment...or have the quality resto they always wanted. I have the fender emblem for the drivers side and another window regulator for the drivers door. The glass in the drivers door is cracked and the vent windows have some bubbles in them. The glass in this truck is readily available from several sources. A restored version of this truck is a real head turner and easily worth $35000. I'm not disclosing my reserve price...however it is roughly 1/3 of restored price. I have tried to detail any areas of concern if you have questions please feel free to call me at 210-685-7521. Thanks for looking. |
