Popular cars are popular for a good reason and while there are a lot of 1970 Chevelles around it's a fact that we just can't seem to keep them in stock. Sure red ones get a lot of attention but blue ones seem to have no problems winning trophies at the big shows and bringing top dollar at auction so why not put one in your garage? All the right ingredients are here including straight clean sheetmetal a cowl-induction hood and proper white SS stripes. A lot of guys prefer cars without vinyl tops and that's how this one came from the factory so it has a clean sleek look that suits the SS perfectly. The bright blue paint has received plenty of attention and shines up beautifully making this the kind of car you'll spend all day detailing then look forward to hitting the road for some fun behind the wheel. It's not perfect of course but this is a car that will definitely generate attention wherever it goes. The chrome is excellent the stainless is shiny and all the glass offers that vintage Soft-Ray tint that's virtually impossible to duplicate today.Black buckets alongside a center console practically define the Chevelle SS. Everything inside was probably replaced when it was restored a few years ago including the seat covers carpets headliner and even the gauges which include a correct tachometer and clock. The lenses are a little faded but that's not really a big deal and easy to fix. There's also a correct steering wheel a Hurst shifter for the 4-speed manual gearbox and an AM/FM/cassette head unit that fits pretty well. There's nothing revolutionary here just a clean functional SS that has a great look already baked in by the factory. The trunk has also been finished in spatter paint and includes a full-sized spare tire.Nicely detailed the 396 cubic inch V8 under the cowl-induction hood has a correct 3969854 casting number which indicates a 1969-1972 396/402 block. Up top there's a QuadraJet carburetor on a factory intake so it has the right look and the chrome air cleaner and valve covers look great against the bright Chevy Orange paint. And as good as it looks it runs even better with a fat torque curve and that RIGHT NOW hit of big torque at any speed. It fires up instantly idles smoothly and pulls with ferocity plus with that 4-speed transmission it's a real pleasure out on the open road. Long-tube headers and a correct dual exhaust system give it a wonderful basso-profundo soundtrack the floors are in good order and there's a heavy duty 12-bolt rear hanging out back. Correct 14-inch SS wheels are fitted with recent 215/70/14 front and 245/60/14 rear BFG T/A radials.Looking great and ready to rock this extremely clean Chevelle SS delivers big block thrills in the most popular year of the most popular car.
