Description of 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Ss |
No reserve auction for my 1984 Chevy Monte Carlo super sport. This car was purchased brand new by my father from Leitenberger Chevrolet of Johnstown pa( they are no longer in business). My father babied this thing for over twenty five years and then sold it to me so that he could purchase a little more modern muscle. I bought the car to keep it in the family but have finally realized after owning it a couple years that it is just collecting dust and it's time to move on. The car is in very good condition for the age but it is thirty plus years old and has never had any restoration work done. I have tried to depict the flaws as best I can. There was a dent in the top of the trunk from my dirt bike falling off its kickstand. He had a local body shop repair it but i don't think they let the layers of putty dry properly because there are small cracks in that are and the paint is sleightly flaking there. Also there are several small dents and a few small touch up spots. I'm sure to be perfect a paint job would be in order. The car is almost completely original except for the tires and the exhaust. I believe my father had the dual exhaust set up and the Goodyear eagle tires it came equipped with are no longer available. I also have some of the original paperwork including a build sheet(rough condition but very legible) and several magazines with articles about the car from the era. I just looked at the auto check and it shows an accident in Texas from 2010. This vehicle was built in Texas but has not been there since and was not involved in an accident. I will contact eBay to dispute the false info. Update: spoke with my father today and he said he had replaced only the tailpipes because the factory ones were rusted thru from the condensation in the exhaust. Also the brakes are original. They look to be in good condition. The car was under coated by the dealer when brand new.6-5-15 Update: I spoke with auto check and they are investigating the false info about an accident in Texas. Car was never involved in an accident and I will make sure it is proven to the buyer. Also the rear view picture shows what looks like smoke from the exhaust but it was cold here the day I took the photo and it is just the moisture in the exhaust. It does smoke a bit on start up after it has sat for awhile but it clears up quickly. I'm told the valve guide seals get hardened by the engine oil over time and allow a little bit of oil to enter the cylinders when it sits in storage. |
