Description of 1965 Chevrolet Corvette |
Lil’ Darlin Lil’ Darlin as my wife has called her since our purchase 10 years ago rolled off the assembly line at the St. Louis GM plant on January 19 1965; one of 15376 convertibles sold that year. She is bright and shiny with her stock rally red exterior knock off wheels black leather interior 327 CID / 250 HP base motor and standard 4-speed manual transmission. Her first owner kept her for more than 30 years; her second owner gave her a restoration prior to 2004. Her third owner continued to maintain her for the next three years and then because the lady of the house wanted the garage space for a ping pong table I bought her. The car is a second generation (C2) “mid-year” corvette; these were made between 1963 and 1967 only. The “mid-year” Stingray body style is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful of all seven generations of Corvettes.I have carefully taken care of her for the past 10 years. She has been continuously garaged and driven about 1000 miles each year. She has an upgraded Edelbrock manifold transmission replacement clutch replacement rebuilt suspension restored instrument cluster and a new white convertible top. Our beautiful “driver” has been under the care of Corvettes Specialists in San Dimas CA. Lil’ Darlin has rewarded us with many great driving experiences and too numerous to count “thumbs up” from roadside admirers. She is a member of the Corvettes Limited Club in Arcadia California where she won “Best C2” in 2011. She was also judged “Best of the 60s” at the Queen Mary All Car Lovers Celebration in 2010 and she has participated in numerous southern California car shows. She still has her “pep” (her horsepower has been dynamometer-verified) and would be a great addition for a serious collector who like me always dreamed of owning a classic “mid-year” corvette. |
