Do a quick Google image search for "hot rod" or "street rod" and you'll see two predominant patterns: a whole lot of flames and a whole lot of Fords. While it's hard not to love a good set of flames brand loyalty can definitely stand between some enthusiasts and a Ford. Heck even if you're a blue oval diehard it's just nice to see something a bit different every now and then. That's why this 1933 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery is such a refreshing change of pace. A lot of coin was invested into making this the baddest business builder on the block and quality work shows throughout. From its leather-lined cockpit and supercharged 350 to its thoroughly updated chassis this car has the best of everything without drifting too far into dreaded "too nice to drive" territory. If you're ready for a different kind of rod at a fraction of the build cost take a minute to learn about this killer bowtie!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Efforts started on the outside where genuine Chevrolet steel was transformed into a sleek canvas that features a collection of near-perfect gaps. That canvas was accented with a modified hood and lightweight fiberglass fenders. Rich black base was sealed under glossy clear and finished with a conservative Chevrolet-branded pinstripe. With that paint sanded buffed and ready to reflect smoked glass a pliable roof a polished grille and old school door handles were framed in traditional chrome bumpers. And that tasteful trim was augmented with a stainless wiper adjustable mirrors thin door guards upgraded Guide B-L-C headlights and Chevrolet-branded tail lamps.

ENGINE

Fold the hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of Jegs V8 that thanks to a 6-71 Weiand blower transforms this compact from a blue collar courier into a wing-footed warrior. At the top of that clean mill wire-look air cleaners funnel wind into coated Holley carburetors that are plumbed with a Mallory regulator a Summit pressure gauge braided fluid lines and a matching Holley pump. Behind those carbs a high quality Mallory Unilite distributor sequences spark between a chrome-cased coil and loomed Taylor plug wires. Below those wires chrome valve covers hang chrome breathers over a Chevy Orange block which is reflected in sweet Hooker Super Competition headers. In front of those headers a series of polished brackets and aluminum pulleys spins a polished Tuff Stuff alternator over a modern power steering pump. Cooling is provided by a beefy radiator which is paired with two quick-spinning puller fans. And items like chrome brace bars a chrome mini starter and a chrome master cylinder thoroughly enhance the car's tightly-packed engine bay.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Combining an independent front-half with transversely sprung rear this Chevy provides a comfortable durable ride that's spiced by improved handling. At the center of that Satin Black skeleton a proven Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed sends torque to what appears to be a C2 Corvette rear end. At the front of that awesome drivetrain Corsair power rack-and-pinion steering makes quick work of tight spots and sharp turns. At the corners of the car old school drum brakes provide smooth and solid stops. At the center of the floor spent gases float from the aforementioned headers in to a 2.5-inch side-exit exhaust system that's complete with rowdy turbo mufflers. And all this mechanical goodness rolls on snazzy Truespoke wires which spin fresh 205/75R14 Goodyear Allegras up front and plump 235/75R15 Firestone FR480s in the rear.

INTERIOR

Peer through the car's smoked windows and you'll find a custom leather interior that's clean simple and comfortable. Modern bucket seats don soft hides that display no significant wear. Beneath those seats color-keyed floor mats and a sea of premium carpet frame a conservative Lokar shifter. In front of that shifter a factory-correct dash hangs old school AC telemetry between a modern Sony CD player and a beefy Auto Gage boost gauge. At the sides of that dash custom door panels anchor traditional handles sizable Boston speakers and small power window switches beneath mirrored frames. In front of the driver a C3 Corvette steering wheel spins a familiar cross-flag emblem around a tilting column and convenient cruise control. And behind the passengers a custom-upholstered cargo area seats big JL Audio speakers beneath a trick LED Sign Center High Mount Stop Lamp.

A lot of cars claim to be the total package but this '33 Chevy actually lives up to the hype. The stout 350 has surprisingly good manners and paired with the smooth-shifting transmission and thoughtful interior serves as the basis for one of the most comfortable hot rods we've seen. So buy it for the bowtie buy it for the build quality... Just make sure to buy it quickly because unique road-ready customs never stick around for too long!
