Description of 1974 Chevrolet Corvette |
When the big blue general minted this 1974 Corvette, he "Stingray" shark would become one of the most widely popular production styles ever made.We've spent maybe six or seven years frame on restoring this lifelong California factory T-top coupe: LOADED with just about every desirable option available for the now legendary last production year Big Block 454 Corvette Stingray: A/C, ilt-Telescopic, ower steering, ower brakes, ower windows and turbo hydramatic three speed transmission. We have more than $33k into the restoration. ABOUT THE EXTERIOR: The new two stage lacquer paint has been buffed to a mirror-like finish revealing brilliant definition on a straight body panels with bonding strips as original. To prevent overspray, ll lights and trim including the mirrors, oor handles and locks together with both door panels were removed for the painting process. We painted this shark three times to make the finish as flawless as possible installing new reproduction fiberglass bumpers front and back. The tires are new BF Goodrich Radial T/A's on the original style 15x8 rally wheels with new trim rings and factory center caps. The nose emblem and "Stingray"emblems are new as well the 454 hood emblems and rear bumper corvette letters. The side view mirrors are new reproductions as are all four tail lights and the rear license plate lights. The exhaust is all new upgraded aluminized pipe (won't get rusty and crusty looking after years) and the spare tire carrier is in nice condition with the spare tire present. The windshield is also new as are the wiper blades and the wiper motor has been rebuilt. The radio antenna and its base are new reproductions. The original Astro-Ventilation door glass still looks beautiful and the vacuum operated headlights with new reproduction vacuum hose kit work great with seals replaced as was required. ABOUT THE INTERIOR: The beautifully restored interior has received new door panels and clips, -brake console, oor sill plates, ear compartment doors with loop leash straps (still boasting a functional interior door compartment light!), ear window trim, oor panel pulls, oor handle emblems, oor locks, ear view mirror and carpet as well recovered seats, ash and center console with new extensions. We also had the seat belts redone with brand new webbing. We've attended to nearly every detail to be obsessed over from rebuilt power windows motors with reproduction harnesses, ll new weather-strips for the doors, ront and rear pillar posts, -tops and hood as well new wiper, rake light and headlight switches. The horn button relay, ontact and cross flags are new as is the center console data plate. The tachometer and the speedometer have new cables and all of the gauges look good with new bulbs illuminating the instrumentation and working well except for the clock and the original radio still in its unaltered factory installation position showing new bezels and knobs but requiring upgrade. Please note that the tachometer lens has been polishedafter these pictures were taken and thetach face is in nice condition just like the speedometer gauge face. ABOUT THE MECHANICALS The rebuilt Numbers Matching 454 Cubic Inch motor looks factory original remaining mated to the rebuilt turbo hydramatic factory three speed transmission with rebuilt torque converter and a new flywheel. The motor compartment is beautiful with chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner lid with new hood seal. When we had the motor rebuilt by motor machine in Chula Vista, A, e had all accessories rebuilt including the carb, ater pump, lternator, /C compressor, ower steering pump, uel pump as an upgraded six quart oil pan. The motor received new wires and plugs when we installed an upgraded HEI tach drive distributor to achieve performance enhancement without sacrificing the factory functional mechanically driven tach. At the same time we rebuilt the power steering pump we rebuilt the rest of the system with remanufactured power steering control valve, ower steering ram and all four new hoses. The exhaust manifolds are new as is the new four row radiator connected to new upper and lower radiator hoses as well overflow tank. We also installed a new fan clutch andradiator foam seal kit to ensure that the running gear stays cool. Most of the car's sending units are new including the oil pressure and temperature sensors as well the gas tank sending unit. At the same time we had the gas tank boiled out and coated to prevent any future corrosion. We have also had the front suspension rebuilt with new a-arm and sway bar bushings as well new shocks and at least lower ball joints. The rear suspension was rebuilt with strut rod and spring bushings. The u-joints were replaced as necessary or altogether. All of the brakes have been serviced with remanufactured stainless steel sleeved units, rebuilt booster power brake booster and new e-brake hardware. When we pulled the motor we also went ahead and replaced the front lamp harness and the engine harnesses with new factory reproduction looms as well installing a rebuilt windshield wiper motor.The motor's stamp number is "T1114CWS" & "14S410710."
