Description of 1961 Chrysler Imperial

1961 Imperial by ChryslerThis was the last year of Chrysler’s finned cars designed by Virgil Exner. The odometer shows a little over 21. 00 miles and from the overall condition of the car. it is believable. Among the receipts was a repair bill dated 7/3/1976 for $190. 80 which recorded the mileage as 14. 01. A new muffler was installed 7/19/82. but the odometer reading was not recorded. We were told that its loving owner died some years ago. The widow left it parked in her garage for the next X years. When the estate was settled in June of 2007. the new owners put about $4. 15 worth of work into it including a brake job. battery. exhaust system. rubber hoses. windshield wiper motor. front seat seam repair. and painting of L & R rocker jams. The owners saved every invoice for the work done. In early 2008. the car was driven about 100 miles to my private museum where it has been driven only on special events. The odometer now shows 21. 61 miles. We put new (modern white wall) tires on it in 2011. It looks like the car has spent it’s whole life of 52 years inside a garage.
