Description of 1948 Chrysler windsor |
My wife and I are selling our 1948 Chrysler Windsor "Dorothy" that we bought from the original owners in Kansas. Only reason we're selling is to buy my wife a new family SUV as the one we have is literally starting to fall apart. We do have a title and it is in our name. I've had the front floor out to replace the brake lines (very easy to take out as its only 12 bolts) and there is absolutely NO rust. The floors are all original with no rust. The frame is perfect and the body as well. I did spray the underside with Ospho and then coat with paint to further protect from rust as we do a lot of cruises. We have both sets of keys (6 in total 2 ignition, doors, trunk) as well as the ORIGINAL id tag for the keys you received when buying the car new and were supposed to destroy. The car runs and drives great, e regularly take it out on weekends to dinner and cruises. She will drive around 60 mph all day with no problem as she does have a full flow oil filter and keeps just over 40/45 psi.The Compression on the cylinders is 120, hich for this engine is just about perfect. Even with the fluid drive she still has plenty of pickup and go and still gets about 20 mpg when cruising. The radiator and engine block both have been flushed and cleaned as well as a new thermostat and water pump installed as a precaution for the florida heat. We've been stuck in traffic for about a half hour with no overheating at all. While we were in there we removed the original steel water distribution tube (known for rusting) and replaced it with an expensive and rare BRASS one. Never worry about it rusting again. The car does have a heater also, t works great but we've only had the need for it a couple weeks out of the year. For the most part we open the windows (all open with absolutely no problem) and the front Cowl vent and it stays nice and cool inside. The interior is all original, o the seats have a couple tears. This is why we covered the seats with the blankets. We patched the tears so they don't spread also. The transmission is the Semi-Automatic so you only have to use the clutch to put it into gear, hen around town just drive it like an automatic without needing the clutch at lights. Its actually really nice and shifts perfectly, ll you hear is the slight "click" of the transmission shifting. Dorothy has been babied by its previous owners as well as us and it shows. Also included with the sale is a bunch of extra parts including another flywheel, enerator, ater pump, uel pump, xhaust/intake header, arburetor, tarter, il pump, il filter housing, nd an original "Spitfire" head ( rare and in Perfect condition). You can either keep these for spares or sell them for a nice amount as there is a want for them on the forums.Included too is:
Here is a link to a photo bucket account I have with a LOT more pictures of the car. About 60 photos in total. BUT if you don't see a certain angle or picture you're looking for please write me and ask and I'll take one for you and send it to you asap. ***Just add "https:" before the "//" on the link when you copy and paste it***//s1168.photobucket.com/user/ChryslerWindsor1948/library/?sort=3&page=1 Thank you for looking. |
