Description of 1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown Coupe |
For sale in our Chicago showroom is a very scarce 1967 Chrysler Crown Imperial Coupe. These old Mopar coupes are very hard to come across but this one has some very unique features that I think you will enjoy. Beginning in 1966 with an executive show car Chrysler introduced the Mobile Director package on the 2-door Crown Imperial coupes only and it began production for only 2 years ending in 1968. With a cost of just under $600 that would adjust to over $4,000 in 2016 dollars it was not popular amongst the masses and very few are known to exist today. The Mobile Director Package was designed to allow for a "mobile office" with a front bucket passenger seat that swiveled a full 180 degrees and faced an adjustable desk that allowed for meetings or your secretary to type and take dictation. A "goose neck" high intensity light allowed for night time reading of all of those important documents or the Wall Street Journal while enjoying a cup of coffee in air conditioned comfort and how "Mad Men" is that. When not being driven with your secretary you could enjoy the full luxuries of a heavily optioned coupe. This car has a very interesting history being purchased from a Navy Commander in the 1970's and placed in climate controlled storage. The car is believed to be mostly original and recent service includes new brake shoes and pads, master and wheel cylinders, brake hoses, differential and transmission seals, new tires, Air Conditioning compressor and receiver dryer replaced and a tune up and carburetor overhaul. One rare feature is the factory front disc brakes that are noted by script on the pedal itself and allowed for precise braking and was rather innovative for 1967. Under the hood you will see the original 440 Cubic Inch V8 that starts up immediately and runs fantastic. The 3 speed Tourqueflite transmission shifts very smooth and makes driving very comfortable. Options on this car include Imperial turbine wheel covers, black vinyl top, leather interior with chrome accents, wood grain inserts, power windows, power locks, sentinel headlights, rear heat, window lock, push button temperature control, AM/FM radio, tilt/telescoping wheel, power antenna and rear speaker.
