Description of 1950 Chrysler DeSoto Custom

1950 Chrysler DeSoto Custom. This car has 90K (+) original miles and has been garage-kept its entire life. This was my grandfathers car. The car was maintenanced regularly and everything was working fine when it was last parked in the garage 29 years ago. A few weeks ago I pulled the spark plugs and sprayed WD-40 into the cylinders. THE CRANKSHAFT STILL TURNS OVER (i.e. engine has not seized). This can be demonstrated at time of inspection. This vehicle has the first ever semi-automatic transmission. A clutch is used to put the car in first gear, but once in gear, the car automatically upshifts through the rest of the gears. Another favorite feature is the instrument panel and dash board that is painted silver with polished brass instrument bezels and purple nighttime illumination. The seats had custom-fitted seat covers installed when the car was purchased. Those seat covers are still in place and the original seats have never been exposed. The hood ornament is the head of the Spanish Explorer and Knight Hernando de Soto. The helmet is chromed and de Soto's face is actual detailed amber and is illuminated with a light inside of the face. The back left fender was replaced back in the 1970's and the gas filler neck protrudes about an inch from the surface of the replacement fender. Body and chrome are in near perfect condition (no dents or rust). The car is complete (replacement rear windshield, gasket and trim are included). I was offered $7k for the car when I stopped for gas as I was driving it from my grandparent's garage to my mother’s garage in 1989. Clear title is offered along with the original vehicle owners manual. The car is being offered for $3,000 or best offer. Cash, bank-certified or personal checks accepted (bank-certified or personal checks must clear bank first before transfer of title).
