If you're looking at this you probably know the story of the 1979 Chrysler 300 so I'm not going to go over that or bore you with the details about the history of the 300. I've owned 3 of these cars and this one is by far the BEST example. The other 2 were T-bar roof cars. One was nice, also a California car, and the other, well, not so much. This car is pretty well built fit and finish-wise considering the times back then and the strike (June 79 I think) and the financial troubles the corporation had. This car was built Nov 1978 and has a few quirks other 300's I've owned or seen don't have. It has a thicker rear sway bar and originally didn't have the 300 medallions on the wheel caps just the "Chrysler Corporation" decals to name a few. The wheel caps I bought are NOS by the way. I have a ton of receipts from parts I've bought as well as the previous owner. I am the 3rd owner. The gentleman I bought it from purchased it from the original owner in July 1986. The glass, paint and sheetmetal are all ORIGINAL and EXCELLENT. Chrome and trim are EXCELLENT. The undercarriage is IMMACULATE. The interior is IMMACULATE. The only really non-original parts are the exhaust. I added Super Turbo mufflers and 2.25" exhaust. The exhaust was replaced from the cats back before I bought it. It still has the ESA system which is 100% functioning. I bought an NOS Thermoquad, the exact replacement for this car and super-tuned it with rods and jets. I changed most of the hoses (fuel, coolant) and belts. It has the original AM/FM 8 Track that works. I changed the speedometer to the 240k (150 mph) Canadian version. (The odometer does read in miles BTW). The tape stripes are original. Has a dual snorkel air cleaner and all the appropriate new intake hoses and rubber hoses. I had the air cleaner lid show quality chrome plated. I bought a new Battery Thermoguard with the washer tank. Tons of new parts/detail upgrades. I also have an original dealer "1 sheet" handout for this car (The ONLY 300 marketing piece) and a set of 1979 Color trim and Data selector catalogs as well as a very clean new set of service manuals (NO greasy hand prints included)from the dealer I will throw in with the sale. This car is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Super Sano. Probably the MOST original 300 you are likely to find. Hardly any still have the ESA working. Take it to a car show and take home a trophy or take it on a cruise. If you're looking for a 300 save yourself some grief. Forget all the also-rans. Buy the nicest one you can find, you'll thank yourself and be glad you did later. You'll get more, a lot more just like the GEICO commercial says. You just can't buy originality to prop up a lesser turd. No weird wheels, strange stripes or decals or emblems or logos or bizarre oddities that should never grace any automobile. Just one of the very few remaining nice clean 1979 Chrysler 300 examples preserved pretty much just like it left Chrysler"s Windsor Ontario assembly plant nearly 40 years ago. Imagine that.
