Description of 1967 Chrysler Newport |
Up for bid is my 1967 Chrysler Newport Convertible that I have owned for about 9 years and has always been garaged. I am moving to Florida and sadly have to sell 2 of my collector cars since my new home has only a one car garage. This car runs and shows great. I have done nothing with the exterior other than wax it. There are a few things that I would have done but will explain later. I have installed an electronic ignition inside the distributor which makes for easy starting and no points to fool with. I had a new top installed by Finish Line interiors about 5 years ago. The top does need a little push as you open it. I was told it needs fluid. but that will need to be looked at. You can hear the pump work. it starts to lift and with a little push. down it goes. The same goes for coming up. I had the transmission totally rebuilt less than 2 years ago at Good Deal Lifetime Transmissions in Woodbury. NJ. It shifts smoothly and has plenty of get up and go. The engine starts right up. even if it has sat for a month or so. but I usually start and run all 3 of my cars each month during the winter months to keep all the "juices" flowing. The engine is quiet and strong. no tapping. no smoke. just get up and go. This car floats on the highway. gobbling up small bumps like all cars used to. Milage is currently 85040. There are small rust spots on one side of rear quarter panel that needs attention. (see last photo) I'll include matching touch up. I don't do body work. I leave that to the adventurous or the pros. The interior is leather and is in great shape for the age of the car. The rugs are original I believe. but have always had mats inside so there is little wear on the original. The dash could stand detailing. I just finished installing a factory radio that I had converted to AM/FM stereo with cd player jacks on back if you so desire to add one. I did break the glove box liner putting the radio in but found a new one. I will also include new rubber for the trunk and doors. as I never got around to putting that in. (see Photo) All the gauges work as do the turn signals. even down to the fender indicators on the top of the fenders. This will be an easy project to make it a great car for you I hope. Enjoy it now for the spring and summer and continue to make it better next winter. We loved doing parades with it. a few weddings. going to the drive ins around here. trips to the shore. and our favorite. gong to the Vineland Drive in Movies with the top down and catching the double feature. Please check out the pictures and I hope someone will love this car as much as we have. Enjoy and thanks for looking. |
