Description of 1948 Chrysler New Yorker

1948 Chrysler New Yorker .

Price REDUCED by $4,000 Too many cars. Need the space. Restomod in progress while preserving the original design of the vehicle. Most of the mechanical work is already done. The engine is small block V-8 from a 1969 Camero S, very powerful and even sounds tough, completely professionally overhauled with all new internal parts and runs perfectly. Remanufactured GM 400 Heavy Duty Automatic Transmission operated from original tree. New alternator. New Edelbrock carburator. Front and rear brakes have been split with all new dual diaphragm and booster system. Original drum brakes at wheels with all new parts. New front wheel bearings and seals. New gas tank with all new fuel lines, straps and filler hose. All new Vintage Air brand air conditioning and heating system. All new Dakota Digital Instrument Cluster built into the original cluster, not just a cheap add-on. All new upgraded winshield wiper complete system. Original dash and steering wheel have been carefully preserved. All new stainless steel exhaust system. Vent-free battery moved to the trunk with easy access, keyed disconnect. All new bumper to bumper wiring harness including under the dash. New led halo headlamps. Set of 5 Coker Classic Car bias-ply wide whitewall tires with less than 200 miles. Altogether I purchased this car for $9,000 and have spent over $18,000 on the mechanics of this car, my total cost $27,000, and it runs and drives very well but there are leaks on the garage floor possibly from the transmission seal not being properly installed. The engine was mounted directly onto the frame of the car without rubber bushings for reasons I don’t understand but that’s a simple fix.It still has the original radiator which is inadequate for this very powerful Camero SS engine. It is supposed to have a new fuel sending unit but the fuel gauge does not work. Hood latch is not easy to secure and requires adjustment however the hood opens properly and the automatic hood stand works properly. All doors and crank windows work properly. Original cowl vent has new rubber seal and works properly. The face of the original radio has been preserved for looks but the huge under dash portion of the original tube-type radio has been removed to make room for the new Vintage Air. The car has some minor rust issues but the floor pans are solid. Most of the hard work has been done already. The body is solid with all the original chrome and stainless steel parts. Some very minor dings and no evedence of any prior wrecks. Right/Rear fender has minor rub crease. Grille and taillights are pitted and need to be rechromed. Bumpers appear to be straight but need to be rechromed. Rear center bumper guard has been removed since the photograph and is NOT included in this sale. No door or trunk keys however the trunk lid opens without a key. This Classic New Yorker will make an excellent, low cost entry level daily driver for the Classic (Sleeper) Restomod Enthusiast. You pay only $12,900 My loss Your Gain. The Camero SS Engine is worth $8,000 by itself. Dakota Digital $1,200 plus install. Vintage Air $1,400 plus install. New wiring harness $1,400 installed plus many many more upgrades have already been done. I have recent classic car purchases in off-site storage waiting to come home, need the space now. Happy to answer your questions. Can help to deliver the car within 5 miles for transport pickup. The car is running and can be driven onto the transport.
