My dad Loved this 53 Imperial and i spent alot of time riding around in it back in the late 1970's.As long as i could remember this 53 Imperial was always Parked in the Garage. The "Crown" Imperial has a 331 Hemi with a 4-speed Clutch automatic with 1st gear High & Low and 2nd gear high and low.I can tell you when the engine is shut-off something inside the torque convertor spins for about 10-seconds.I helped dad in 2008 start the Imperial and run the 331 hemi engine. Its going to need a new 6-volt battery and some brake work. This 1953 Imperial will run and drive with not alot of work.I can also tell you the body is Straight and there is very little rust ? " The rocker panels have some minor rust which i have a New re-placement set ".Also Dad always said that 53 was a bad year for Stainless/Chrome ".The interior/Headliner are good shape just needing a really good cleaning, but the steering wheel is cracked. It has power windows/steering.and seat. There is 40 years of dust on it.I have a NOS master cylinder, and original hubcaps to give to the buyer along with some other odds and ends. There is a set of Kelsey Hayes wire wheels and tires that can be purchased for the car and i have many other Imperial parts extra stainless chrome.I have more pictures so ask?.The air cleaner is in the trunk. I am SELLING this 1953 IMPERIAL in as is condition and i am looking for someone who wants to Make a Deal. This 53 Imperial Crown has Really Good Bones. I have 3-extra 51-54 331 Hemi engines/transmissions and a Lasalle trans stick set-up with aluminum plate,Bolt to the floor 3-speed shifter,Driveshaft and clutch parts.Unfortuatly my dad passed away last year and i have to settle his estate so the Imperial has to have a new home.
