Description of 1965 Chrysler Imperial Crown

I bought my first Imperial in late summer 1973 from a friend for $350. 00. It had 55. 00 miles. was driven by his wife and always garaged. It was the same color combination as this car. except it had a black leather interior. After a superb detailing. and a tune-up. this car looked like it came out of the showroom. and drove superbly. When the car magazines of the day reviewed it. they claimed it was far superior to the other luxury brands. namely Cadillac and Lincoln. in comfort. ride and performance. I agree. it was quiet. and smooth and built to last. It was for this structural strength and engine power that the demolition derby enthusiasts singled out this car for their races. It was indestructible and usually beat all the other Detroit Iron out there. It is one of the reasons that many of these cars were junked and did not survive the 50 years that mine did. I always loved that first Imperial. and regrettably had to sell it in 1975 when I was transferred overseas. I sold that car to my mechanic who happily drove it for many years. and would not sell it back to me when I returned. For 30 years I looked for one just like it. the same color. Call it nostalgia. As good fortune would have it. I finally found this one near San Jose in Sept. . 2006. Drove it back that same day without incident to Orange Co. Ca. This is a black plate. rust-free California car. owned by a farmer in the central valley that donated it to a charity. and I bough it at auction. I am the second owner. I did not want to bring this car back to show condition (even though the only time I showed it. it won best in Class). Rather. wanted to put everything right and make it a very good looking driver that I can show as well. All mechanicals have been attended to. including. new exhaust. steering box rebuild. A/C rebuild (needs a charge). recent service to replace gaskets. new brakes. carb adjustment and cleaning. and other misc. details addressed. The engine. to my knowledge. has never been apart. the mechanic said it did not need a rebuild. and it runs smoothly and strong at 97. 00 original miles. In addition. new tires were installed recently. All the power windows work. but some a little more slowly than others. Power wing windows work too! The interior restoration was the icing on the cake for this car. Finding the original white pearlescent hides was not easy. and not cheap. then restoring the seats to the original leather checkerboard pattern was a time-consuming and expensive proposition. and the door panels and arm-rests were redone with the same leather. The result was excellent. I have been very happy with this car but as is the case. it is time for practicality and time for somebody else to enjoy the fruits of my labor and open checkbook. I know I will not get back what I invested into this labor of love. but I am seeking a fair price. You will not be disappointed. In addition. I have some rare parts which I can sell separately (NOS Imperial wheel covers that I paid $1000 for and never mounted) as well as other misc. parts if the buyer has interest. Please call if you have any questions about the car and its history. I know a lot about this car and this vintage. She runs and drives extremely well. Mobile 949-422-8649. I am Ed. the owner. I am in the Pacific time zone. Thanks for your interest.
