1912 W. Mockingbird Lane

1940 would be the last production year for the LaSalle and the finest. The convertible-coupe was available as either a series 50 or series 52 version and appeared in mid model year. There were very few convertible sedans produced and surely only a handful remain today. From our research, here were only 125LaSalle Series 50 Convertible-Sedan's produced in 1940. The convertible sedan was notintroduceduntil mid-model-year 1940.This is body #49 and displays a beautiful lacquer patina finish in dark blue. The interior showcases beautiful vintage leather upholstery with original gauges and controls. The steering wheel & shift level are also original. The 16-inch color-keyed wheels wear factory optioned ($4.00 each) LaS (LaSalle) hubcaps all around. The LaS insignia harkens to the early days of the LaSalle, irst introduced in 1927. Enjoy our presentation and feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 with any questions about this vintage 1940 LaSalle Convertible Sedan.

This is a beautiful car, inished in a dark blue finish, elieved to be lacquer. There is checking evident in close inspection, lthough the car has an excellent shine. The checking is not dominant throughout the car, nly in areas.

This stunning automobile was a favored design of Mr. Harley Earl in his early GM styling days. Bill Mitchell was General Motor's Chief Designer at that time.

The stunning vintage brightwork is in very good condition & intact throughout.

The factory wheels wear the correct "LaS" wheel covers all around and were fitted with Denman Deluxe White Whitewall tires sized at 16-7.00 all around.

Open the doors to 1940. This is your opportunity to own a very rare low production and final year LaSalle Convertible.

Under the hood is the factory L-head 322 cubic inch V8 rated at 130 horsepower and paired with the factory 3-speed manual transmission.

The original identification plate is intact and legible. This is a Series 40-5029 Convertible Sedan, ody # 49, ith a paint code of #7 and Trim of #24 #7

The interior is beautiful and vintage.

This is the optional heater.

The original steering wheel has been preserved along with the vintage gauge cluster and controls. The bakelite shows well.

The speedometer cluster is in beautiful condition.

The Motorola radio is in beautiful asthetic condition and is not currently working. We are certain it can be rebuilt or repaired by a vintage radio expert.

The upholstery has a very nice colour and feel to it. This is supple leather that has aged very gracefully.

The upholstery shows well from to back. There is a canvas boot to protect the convertible top assembly.

The convertible top assembly is in very good condition inside and out. The canvas is clean and detailed, howing some minor wear, ut intact. The top is tan with contrasting wine piping.

The interior bows are painted and chromed. The center sections are removable, hen the top retracts manually.

This is an older top. You can see some faint discoloration along the lower edges, een above.

Further inspection of the engine compartment reveal excellent sheetmetal throughout the firewall, nner fenders and core support. The engine itself runs smooth and wears its factory induction and breather assembly along with the cast manifolds.

The trunk is detailed throughout, omplete with the spare tire/wheel.

The undercarriage photos are above. This car looks to be in exceptional condition underneath with previous restoration work done on this very original car.The suspension has been previously rebuilt. The frame and underbody are in very good condition. This has been a garage-kept vehicle for decades.

You can see some of the laquer checking in the paint photograph just above. Enjoy our remaining photos and again feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 with any questions or concerns.

The fresh air cowl is fully functional.
