There can't be many car guys who haven't lusted for a Corvette at some point in their lives. This great-looking 1980 Corvette coupe is a fantastic way to break into the Corvette hobby for not a lot of money, nd you'll probably discover that it's a lot of high-performance fun for your dollar. This one is believed to be a 20k actual mileage survivor, hich makes it quite a unique C3. You simply can't go wrong with a color combination like this on your fantastic plastic. This one appears to still be wearing its original paint, o it's a clean survivor that looks like it has led a pretty easy life. Unlike a lot of paints from the era, he white finish still shows well yet can be enjoyed without having to worry about rain or bugs on the finish. By 1980, uild quality had improved by leaps and bounds, o you'll find decent gaps, eat-fitting bumper caps, nd T-tops that seal up well. With survivors being red-hot with collectors, don't even think I'd worry about the light fading on the bumper caps, nd it's important to remember that they seldom matched, ven when they were new. With an update in 1978, he fastback profile with aggressive front and rear spoilers is as good as the C3 got, nd it's instantly recognizable today. Unlike a lot of Corvettes of this period, his one hasn't been dressed up with aftermarket add-ons, instripes, r other nonsense that purists reject; it's just a very clean, riginal 'Vette. The beautiful tan leather interior is pure 1980s cool and I like the contrast a lot more than plain old black or in-your-face lipstick red. With a comfortable look that's quite inviting, t's hard to resist sliding into those deep buckets and looking out over that long, ramatic hood. The driver's seat shows minimal wear that's commensurate with the car's age and mileage, hile the rest of the interior is very well preserved with only modest signs of use. Corvettes were loaded with standard equipment in 1980, ncluding ice cold A/C, ower windows and locks, ruise control tilt wheel, nd a complete array of gauges that are highly visible and easy to read. An AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit was installed in the center stack sometime after the car was built and still sounds good today. T-tops are always a welcome feature and it'll be hard to resist pulling them off and hitting the road on the next sunny day.Dual snorkels on the air cleaner quickly give-away that this is an L-82, nd with 230 horsepower on this numbers matching engine, t was a stout performer in 1980. Even today the solid whack of torque will get your heart racing on the street. It starts quickly and idles easily with a nice V8 burble out back that never gets old. It appears to be almost entirely stock, hich is good news for enthusiasts who like authenticity; even the smog pump and ignition shields are still in place. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission shifts crisply and the suspension in 1980 was comfortable enough to call this Corvette a grand tourer rather than an all-out sports car. Even the exhaust system still looks original, ight down to the factory catalytic converter, hich is good news for those of you living where annual smog checks are still required. The original slotted alloy wheels look great and wear fat 255/60/15 Goodyear performance radials. This car represents a great opportunity to get into a Corvette that looks almost exactly like it did 35 years ago..
