Description of 1966 Citroen Other |
1966 Citroen DS19 Pallas I have finally decided to part ways with my beloved 1966 Citroen DS19 Pallas. it has been in my care since 2010. I purchased it from the wife of the original owner. who ordered the car specifically as a DS19 (1. 9L) Pallas (top of the line trim) with a 4 speed manual shift transmission. The car was ordered new when the owner and his wife were living in Paris. however he accepted a job at UCLA in Bel Air. California before the car was formally delivered. Citroen then updated the cars features to North American specs. but it retained its DS19 Pallas trim level that was not available in the US market in 1966. which makes it a rarity- more than likely it is the only North American market factory spec’d DS19 Pallas in existence. I have photos of the car from its delivery day. as well as a detailed notebook showing every detail of service- including fuel “walked in” to the Port of Los Angeles when the original owner picked it up. All of that amongst a huge book of records and receipts showing all services. restorations. parts and details of this car’s entire life. Its factory original color is AC420- Brun Sardione. a mocha brown color that is very pretty. and the interior was once black leather. or so it seems in the historical photos I have of the car. It is now finished in what I believe to be Bleu Camargue. a color only available in 1972-73. The interior is now a very pretty and high quality red leather. with gray piping. It has been described as a very “So Cal looking” car. and as it should be- it spent its whole life in the LA area- specifically Bel Air. it continues to wear its original California Black Plates. and continues active CA state registration. the 2015 sticker arrived just after the photos were taken. The mechanical systems were all gone through before my purchase; the engine was totally rebuilt. as well as the transmission. and the hydraulic system. including the brakes. It was converted to LHM (green fluid) right around 2007. The underbody and structure of this car is excellent. I specifically purchased a car from Southern California because I didn’t want to deal with rust. The entire car is flawless and solid. with the exception of one spot in the trunk floor at the seam where it has split. When I purchased this car it had been sitting for around a year since the original owner passed away. I did some basic maintenance in LA. and then drove it 3. 00 miles across the country to Syracuse. NY where it now resides. in climate controlled storage. Over the 3. 00 mile trip it preformed at between 25 and 30mpg and cruised at 75+ mph. Currently it runs and drives very well. I rebuilt the rear wheel cylinders recently. and had the high pressure hydraulic pump professionally rebuilt. It has a hydraulic leak from a return line near the front drivers side wheel. as well as from the power steering rack. None of these effect the drivability of the car. I removed the original Cibie driving lights and began a restoration on them. the reflector material had flaked off. they need to be finished. The globes installed in the housings are Hellas. and could be made functional. I have one additional rare Cibie spare housing/light globe assembly that is in great condition that will be included in the sale.
