Description of 1969 Cord Warrior

This auction is for a 108 in wheelbase SAMCO 37 CORD Replica parts car. basically a body and frame. Here is a short description of the history of this model: In 1967- 1968. William P Lear father of the LearJet and President of The LearJet Company in Wichita. Kansas. expressed interest in the now bankrupt Cord Automobile Company of Tulsa. Oklahoma. Local businessman. Oklahoma State Legislator and Lear friend. Howard Williams. further excited Lear's interest and the company soon became thePhoto of Bill Lear and Bill Landers (Landers is second from right holding a cigarette) Photo Courtesy of WilliamPLear. comSports Automobile Manufacturing Company (SAMCO). LearJet's former production Vice-President Bill Landers. seen with Lear in this early Lear Jet production meeting. would head up the manufacturing arm of the new company. while Howard Williams would preside over sales. distribution and dealer relations. 1968 to 1970. Sporting a new redesigned body. the Cord was reintroduced again in the late 60's. This time. with plenty of horsepower. The "SAMCO" model Cords rolled out of the Tulsa factory in two different models. Cord manufacturing plant Tulsa. Oklahoma 1969 The Warrior and Royale. The Warrior. with a 108 inch wheel base. and the extended version Royale with a 113 inch wheel base. Both models came equipped with either a Ford 302 engine. or the Chrysler 440 Magnum engine. The factory soon moved its production work to the Keystone Lake community of Mannford. Oklahoma West of Tulsa. During this three year period. some 400 cars were built eclipsing the earlier production models of 1966. This is a Warrior model. (108in wb) I found it in a local storage yard where it had been sitting for over 30 years. It is in poor shape as you can see. The tires are rotted and there are a lot of missing parts. however it is a blank slate that will yield a cool vehicle with some imagination and sweat. I have a bill of sale from the owner of the storage yard. I was able to find out that this car originally came with a 440 Chrysler engine. It is easier to tell what parts are present than to itemize the missing parts. There is a Ford 9in rear. a Rockwell straight axle in front dated Nov 67. There is drum brakes all around. power steering box. fuel tank. steering column. No Engine. Trans. driveline or interior. Look at the photos. I have tried to show the true condition of this diamond in the rough. Some or all of the parts to this car were once stored in a unit there but are now gone. If anyone knows who bought them. it would be great to reunited them with this car. This fiberglass body and frame has been sitting outside for a few years. I have no other parts for it. however it is a very rare piece of automotive history. This model is called the 'Warrior' with 108 inch wheelbase. nbsp;I was able to find out this car originally had a 440 Chrysler powerplant. It has the original factory frame. with ford 9 inch rear. and a rockwell front axle dated Nov 67. Has all brake lines. drum brakes all around. power steering. fuel tank. nbsp;both doors with electric motors and glass. Tires are rotten. Needs a lot of work. I can provide a Bill of Sale. nbsp;
