Description of 1968 Datsun Other |
I recently acquired this excellent condition 510 in Eastern California where it’s been hiding for over 7 years. This car has never even been painted! This is the original white paint. I washed and started to polish out the paint. I couldn’t believe how beautiful the condition was! The interior is cooked from the sun but it’s all there! The headliner is still very good so someone could simply redo the seats and the carpets in order to have a clean interior. Did you see the original radio in the dash? I placed a new AC Delco battery in the car and all the lights worked. The headlamps are even original. Check out the Japanese name on the face of the glass! The engine started right up with a little choke. But it made some “clacking” so I turned it off right away. It could be a valve train problem or the fact that the oil didn’t even reach the top fast enough. Either way. I haven’t turned it over since. This car is being sold as is so you will have to figure out the drive train yourself. I expect the person who is interested in this car will buy it more for the fact that it is untouched and unmolested! I could not find any serious rust. The original muffler and exhaust pipe is a little rusted but still operational. This is truly a time capsule The brake hoses look new and the brake pads also. I have only rolled it around but found the brakes worked well and the car rolled like it should. I really think this car would fix up fast and easy if someone just wanted to keep it as it is. Even though the seat upholstery is cracked the front seat is super comfortable. I just cant believe how well engineered these 510’s were! Now. I have been out of the 510 game since the 1980’s but the experts have schooled me on this car’s worth. So as you see the price is set within current values based on a rust free and original un-cut car. Plus as you are aware this is the first year model and with a Vin number starting at 19K I think you will agree there will be no other chances to acquire such a car. The mileage states 53K but I'm sure it's 153K. Good Luck Bidding. Andy |
