Description of 1974 Datsun Z-Series |
Datsun Z-Series Early 1974 260Z (9/73 production): This project Z car has been an Arizona car. as far as we know. its whole life. I am selling this for my father-in-law who purchased it in December '93. I can remember when he drove it daily. All this said. it has sat for some years on the farm. All this started when he went to change the timing chain and could not figure out the marks. Comments from him include; The chain is new. the transmission was rebuilt close to it going off the road. the clutch was replaced with the Nissan racing clutch of that time (there were two models according to him). the master cylinder was new. Of course. all of these things were done years ago. So we dropped a battery in it (not included). Blinkers and lights work except for right front blinker). Motor turns over. Electrical appears intact. I think the pictures can speak for the car. but to add comment: All rust spots on the exterior appear to be surface rust (paint gone). The rocker on the right side does have some bubbles. The floors appear solid with the exception of a hole that I think was cut through at the tunnel (drivers-next to resonator) and a spot where it appears the undercoating has chipped away. This car was never in a major wreck and the front bumper and grill was damaged while trying to move it with a tractor on the farm (not so smart). The rear muffler was pulled down putting it on a tow truck years back. Overall the car is really quite straight. All the glass is good with the exception of the windshield which has a BB hole on the passenger side (usable and fill-able). Stainless trim is nice and the car is. as far as I can see. all there. Parts in the rear include the original front valence. drivers armrest w/chrome trim. belly pan and misc parts. Also. a header. gasket and the second side "Z" emblem is inside The rims are steel edged aluminum Cragar slot mags(original-optional?). This is a very viable project car . I do feel many things would come easy with this restoration and likely it would run quickly as is with a experienced mechanic. That said. no guarantees. it is a project. Please see photos and ask questions. Title is clear and is box "C" meaning "not actual mileage". That said. when purchased the mileage read 51699 and now it reads 56380. In Arizona. if you can't tell them "you know" the mileage for sure. the box "C" will be checked. We think it is 156380. Also. this car was originally the 305 light blue metallic on black Beige and painted the yellow prior to purchase (pictures show the blue). If I did not have many car projects. I would buy it myself. Good starting point here. no rust belt/south rust. Accurate description. Thank you |
