Description of 1973 Datsun Z-Series 240Z |
Stock with the exception of some cosmetic changes: Steering wheel. rims/tires. carbon fiber bumpers and license plate tail surround (all carbon fiber parts have been clear coated for UV protection so they won't fade). I believe I'm the 4th owner of the car judging by the records I have. 3rd owner was my brother-in-law who bought the car in 2010 and held if for me until I had the funds to purchase. Have misc. service history records going back to 1985 which detail mileage and thousands of dollars in maintenance and upkeep. Car was in CA until 2nd owner bought it in 2002 and had it in Southern Oregon. The car was back in CA when I bought it. and moved to TX last year. Has current TX registration. Numbers matching car - VIN and engine. Head is E88. I Have all the original equipment (bumpers. steering wheel. hubcaps [I don't believe the hubcaps I have [pictured] were stock for that year] for stock rims. etc. ) to put back to stock appearance if you like. Car was repainted once 3 years ago in original color; car was striped and chrome trim pieces (including door handles. front grill. ashtray. and wiper arms) were powder coated in black chrome; windows were tinted out of the car; all weather striping for windows was replaced. Runs and drives great with no mechanical issues. new battery (kept on Tender). all fluids and oil changed regularly. updated to electronic ignition (no points). also new plugs and wires last year. Only items not functioning are the clock (it's correct twice a day!) and the speedometer does not display the correct speed; however both odometer and trip meter have always worked properly so the issue is most likely with the speedometer gauge itself and not the cable. The car has had the OEM 14" rims until about a month ago when I bought the new 16" rims and new tires. The car has been driven maybe 10-12 miles with the new rims. Rust free solid car (maybe some very minimal surface rust under floor boards but definitely nothing that would warrant any replacement. or much concern - see pics). Carbs rebuilt by Z Therapy (receipts are with records I have). Spare tire is the original (175/70 14)- date code indicates a manufacture date during the 19th week of 1973. Also have an air dam. new in the box. to replace the stock valence for clearance for the larger rim/tire set up. Car currently sits with the original front tires. so I put the front valence pieces back on with the removal of the larger tires. The valence could also be trimmed to allow the larger tires but I did not want to go that route. The two tires on the stock rims on front of the car are brand new 195/70 14's. as are the 4 tires (Potenza hi-performance 225/50 16) on the 16X8 Enkei rims. Have only driven the car around the neighborhood on new rims and tires. I Have a freshly rebuilt 5-speed (from 280Z non-turbo) that goes with it as well if you'd like to convert to manual. I traded a friend for the manual clutch and brake pedals because I planed on putting in the 5-speed. If you want to retain the automatic. which does great. you would probably want to source the single break pedal. I've tried to be a descriptive as possible. but please contact me if you'd like/need any more information. This is a great car. I'm not positive all of the extra parts will fit inside the car (i. e. 4 tires. original bumpers. air dam. transmission. etc. ) so please keep in mind if you need to arrange shipping. I've not shipped a car before and unsure of fees. Thank you for checking it out. |
