Description of 1971 Datsun 240Z

This is a 1971 Datsun 240Z. I’m the second and fourth owner. I purchased the car in 2006 from the original owner and sold it in 2007. I re purchased it in 2018. It has had some minor modifications. Drivetrain: It has 191375 original miles on the matching numbers engine. The compression was done four years ago and it had very strong compression. I have included a print out of work done on the car and dates it was done. Also a pic of the compression test. Cooling: newer Mishimoto radiator and hoses, with a 160 degree thermostat. Helps keep it running cool. This Z does have an after market AC unit in it. It was installed by the previous owner. It may need to be re charged. When turning the switch on. It activated the dual cooling fans in front of the radiator. Transmission is a fresh rebuilt 82-83 close ratio 280ZX 5sp. Also has a brand new clutch and flywheel. It’s a 240mm flywheel and clutch disc for future reference. Rear and is a 4:11 and gets off the line nicely. Exhaust: is a newer MSA full kit from the headers to the muffler. Suspension: The Z is equipped with Tokico Illumina adjustable struts and Tokico sorings. It also has upper strut bars by Garage Theory and front and rear sway bars from MSA. The Z handles very well and is a lot of fun to drive. Wheels/Tires: The wheels were purchased from MSA several years ago. They are called “re flash” wheels if I remember correctly. They are basically remakes of the old slotted mags but in a 15x7 vs a 14 inch. The tires are also about five years old and have very few miles on them. They are BF Goodrich tires. Brakes: work great! Master cylinder and booster were done in 2018. Front pads were done in December 2023. Paint and body: it was done many years ago by the previous owner and all rust repair was done on the rocker panels. It still shows nicely. It is an original silver Z. The original owner had it repainted gun metal and the previous owner repainted same cooor when the rust repair was done. After further investigation I may have figure out why the Z was first painted by the original owner. It looks to have had some sort of front end damage. It was repaired but not done very clean. The Z is straight but has many dings and dents to the under carriage. It has very little surface rust underneath. Floors and rails are solid. This is an original California car. It spent 11 years in Arizona before I re acquired. Interior: the interior is in great condition and shows well except for the dash board. It still has the full face dash cover I put on in 2006. I brand new full face dash cover including a new custom leather shift boot and e-brake boot will be included with the sell. All gauges work minus the clock. It has the original radio$$$. Those things are worth a mint. Plus an after market stereo in the glove box. There is a remote that controls it on the center console. It has an after market wood steering wheel I may replace with either an original one or another after market one just FYI. Electrical: brand new optima yellow top battery. It has HID headlights. All lights seem to be working properly. I did have an issue with the driver side headlight but it turned out to be a corroded box that plugs into the light. It was cleaned and works as it should.
